Hello everybody.
I'm leaving in 30 minutes, surgery is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., have to be there at 11:30. As I figured, I have a bad headache....I do not do well with no food and no coffee! I can't wait to have some coffee. I did an enema late last night and Sunday afternoon, feeling pretty good besides my headache.
I will post more possibly later this afternoon.

Hello everybody. Well, almost 24 hours later...I have no pain down there, just feels like pressure. I took a mirror last night and looked at it...it's a bit swollen, but nothing horrible. I cleaned with balneol and am just being careful.
As for the surgery, it was about 20 minutes. A MAC was done, I was given propophol, versed and something else to sleep and for my bad headache. My doc said everything went great, I believe she also removed the sentinel pile, though I forgot to ask about that. I asked the anesthesiologist to please add toradol for inflammation before the surgery began. No idea if this has helped, but to be honest, I feel like I got whacked in the butt with a bat.....I feel a little bruised and swollen, but not real pain.
I got Vicodin for the pain and I took one of those last night. My hands and arms went to sleep, freaking weird! That was sort of scary. And I didn't sleep at all last night because of my severe headache. I don't know if it's coffee withdrawls or what is going on, but I am going to ask my doc about it here in a bit when their office opens.
Right when I got home, I took my benefiber, ate a pear, had some soup and hot water and went to lay down and just watched tv for a little bit. (I got home around 3:30 p.m.) I also took 16mcg of the amitiza, which I normally take 8 mcg in a day. I had some gas last night, it came out fine, no soilage or anything. Today I will take more benefiber and also do a glass of miralax, to get things moving. Petrified to poop, but know that the time will come and hopefully I can pop a pain med and it won't be that bad. (fingers crossed)
I think I covered everything, if anybody would like to ask any questions, feel free. Thank you again for this forum. :)

Well, an update from me. I had a bm yesterday at 1 p.m. It went okay, hurt a little...more like my fissure pain than surgery. The huge step is that it's over and it wasn't horrendous and I didn't have to strain to get out or almost black out during the bm.
After the bm, it got progressively worse....my bum is bruised on both sides, but the real pain I feel now is on the right side- which I'm confused because that's the side of my fissure- so I'm not really sure which side she did the LIS surgery on.
I have lots of gas, nothing that has soiled anything, and it smells pretty bad. :(
I'm still continuing with soft foods, but I did have some chicken last night in a salad, but mostly sticking with soups, veggies and fruit. I'm also taking amitiza, fiberone and miralax.
Overall, this morning it's pretty sore back there. I can still walk and move around, but I feel like I want to put something on it? I'm doing ice packs that they send home with you- haven't done a sitz bath yet, but I have a shower head that is removable, so I will do that today a few times.
I will update more tomorrow. Cheers.

Also wanted to add that hot shower and bath does wonders. I'd also like to say that I don't like taking the narcotics....makes me have weird dreams and I get headaches afterwards. Plus, I just don't want to get constipated. I think last night was my last night of Vicodin.
Miralax makes me want to puke, I seriously can not drink that stuff anymore. I will start taking colace or something....anything but miralax. Yuck! What do others use in the states that might be comparable?
I have not had a bm today...will report back later...
As for the feeling back there, it feels tight....like my doc sutured my stitches too tight...feels raw and just sore, not horrible pain, just an ache feeling. Did anybody continue to treat their fissure with the topical cream they had? I don't know if I should continue to put niphedepene cream on there or not?

I felt exactly the same, the rawness and sore feeling are not nice but cannot be compared to fissure pain.
I used (and still do) Chamomile ointment on and inside the anus and on occasion I use Rectogesic if things seem to be getting bad, I also use Petroleum Jelly in and around the anus, so I can't see why you wouldn't be ok using Nifedipine.
