Make,
have you tried putting the miralax in juice or tea? The colace just doesn't hold a light to the results miralax gives.
I'm not sure about any of the fissure ointments but I was told not to use vaseline down there while healing the first few weeks. They said it needs to air. Image
The bruising is normal. My butt looked like someone beat me with a baseball bat all the way up to my cheeks. I bruise real easy anyway....

Hi Make,
I had surgery on the 10th, and I can relate to what you said about that feeling of pressure! I'm just over 24 hours out now and don't have much pain, as long as I don't bump it, or walk into something! Haven't had my first BM yet ... REALLY not looking forward to it!
Hope your soreness is getting better! :D

my bm was not bad, don't stress about it. I was doing miralax, benefiber, lots of water and soup and veggie diet.
dawn, haven't been mixing the miralax with juice, but I will do that....it taste so disgusting by itself.
I'm doing pretty good, my bruising has turned to black on the sides of my cheeks, still not sure which side my surgery was on and I need to call the doc to get a follow-up appointment. I had no bm yesterday and today is my first day of doing a "regular diet".
As for the pain, I really don't have much.... it's still a little sore, but the hot shower and bath made me feel a lot better and I did ice packs 3 different times yesterday. No more narcotics for me, ibuprofen is fine....was really expecting a lot more pain and discomfort. I took a sleep agent last night, just some generic brand over the counter...and slept very well.
Will report back after my next bm... stay tuned!

well, no sooner did I drink my benefiber and take my pills did I have to run up and go to the bathroom. It hurt just the tiniest bit at first, I just relaxed and it came out just fine. Absolutely NO pain during the bm or after. I waited for a bit and more came out, both were nice sized bm's. I actually cried a little bit afterwards. 5 years of living a life around a sore in your bum is a horrible way to live. I just can not believe that 3 days after surgery I could be feeling this way. The 2nd bm came out so wonderful and I feel fantastic down there. I looked afterwards and there was no blood, just a faint dried blood- a tiny bit on the tp, nothing on my bm and virtually pain-free. I'm still in awe right now. I don't want to be too crazy, but I feel like doing a dance or something. Thank God I did this surgery and am just sorry I didn't do it sooner!
I will continue with the water, fiber pills, miralax and all of that for a few more days....and then slowly step back with the miralax and go back to my 8 mcg of amitiza on Monday possibly.
I can not thank all of you for your support and for this wonderful forum.
My best to all of you.

makem3,
That is Wonderful News!!!! I am so happy for you. Keep up the routine with your diet...You're doing great! That's exactly how I felt with my first BM. I couldn't believe it.
It felt better with the surgery swelling and bruising and a new cut to go to the bathroom then it did with the fissure. It's amazing how much better it feels with the stupid muscle cut...
Congrats on the easy Bm's! It just keeps getting better. You will be amazed in a couple of weeks~ the difference.
