Good luck on ur surgery. the day will come n ur already will be done with ur surgery :) i have used donut ring but that didn't help me at all i just use soft pillow right now for my driving n at work. Ya probably sitting for longer times also might be painful i try to stand up every few hrs and work.
I totally agree with u abt the doctors saying u can go back to work in 1 week. My doctor told me u can go back to work in 4-5 days i was constipated on 4th day which was hell. So i would rather take it slowly i took off for 2 weeks n taking it slow :)
Plz take care and keep posting

Hi Diamond,
I guess you kind of know what's coming, which is which you are not quite as super scared as you may have been the first time round! I'm sure everything will be absolutely fine on Thursday for you and it's another step towards healing, don't forget!....
Hell yes, the stress of abscess/ fistula and chronic fissure on top, got so overwhelming for me I actually took ADs for a while because I couldn't mentally cope with it all at its worst! I also had a VERY stressful job too at that time with strict deadlines. I don't know how I coped, but you just do. I suppose in some respects, it was also a good thing because it actually took my mind of my bum for long periods of time!!
I also totally agree a CRS underestimates recovery time!! I was told I could go back to work within a couple of days!........Yes right! anyway, it was just under 2 weeks in the end and although it was a bit uncomfortable, I was feeling good in myself..........
I didn't get on too well with a Donut but had already bought one. I found putting a soft pillow on top of the Donut really helped! That was incredibly comfortable!!
It will be good to get rid of the one Seton and get that tract deroofed too because it'll only be a few weeks of healing, all being well for that to heal up, and then your final hurdle.
You'll be even closer to reaching "normality" again and getting back to doing all those things that you used to do! So stay positive and focus on the new you & reliving life again!!
Wishing you all the very best on Thurs, if we don't hear from you in the meantime & take it easy...Image

Thank you all for your kind words! It's kind of funny how all of you out there in cyber space know so much more about what I'm going through - more so than the so called close friends :)
I bought a donut too - it's "harder" and I'm finding it hard to sit on. I may try it with a pillow on top.
I had my pre-op today - my surgeon was great. She didn't actually examine me or anything .. just talked me through what she expects. She thinks she'll be taking out that one seton and deroofing it - she said it's a pretty short tract that's left so it won't be as bad as the first time. She also indicated she MAY do the LIFT procedure - but most likely that will have to wait for another (last) surgery in a few months. I have faith that she knows what she's doing - I like that she took this all step by step instead of just cutting me up and then leaving me to deal with the potential risks and consequences.
My doc note says 4-6 weeks :)I wish I could take all that time off to just heal and deal with this but I know that my job won't have that - so I'll probably try to get back to work in 10 days .. followed by 1-2 weeks of working from home.
I will keep you all posted - the countdown is on - 2 more sleeps!!

Thank you all for your messages... definitely made me smile that there are people out there who understand what I'm going through and that wish me well :) I'm in the waiting room right now actually ..need to see the OR nurse next and the surgery team. An hour to go... the drugs they've given me are making me slightly loopy.. so now I'm super positive :)

Just wanted to update you guys.. I woke up from being under and heard mutterings about keeping me overnight. And I freaked out.. wanted to know why and what happened etc. Thought something serious had gone wrong. The nurses didn't have an answers for me..so I lay there looking like a sullen angry little person! I dont like when life throws me a curve ball! They moved me into my room for the night and finally the surgeon's resident came to see me and told me they did both a fistulotomy and the LIFT..which they werent planning on doing. Both setons are out! I'm hoping this means my whole situation is better than they thought. Nurses are monitoring me.. I think I'm still high off drugs and don't feel anything.. the surgeon will see me in the morning and I will get to go home.. does anyone have experience with the LIFT procedure..?? I had talked to a couple of people on here before about it.. and I recall them saying they were on bed rest for 2 weeks.. I don't care about my job now actually.. and will request extra time off..I'm prepared to quit even.. if this means I may potentially heal and never need a surgery for this again.
