Sometimes a second LIS is necessary, we have seen this on the board and my CRS told me so. I see you are a woman, and maybe the surgeons cut conservatively on us because there's a higer incontinence risk for us.

Hi Amy,
When you say pelvic pain, can you be more specific where it hurts? What treatment were you receiving prior to AF?

My pain started after childbirth and I have also had numerous operations/procedures on my anus. The pain was only in the rectum but then over time I started getting it on the vulva and next to the introitus of the vagina. I have had emg studies that verify that I do have damaged pudendal nerves that cause the neuralgia. It also causes some confusion in my body about when I need to go and when I am done too.

To answer your last question, yes, when the fissure is active the spasms are worse. That is why it is so hard to heal when your body is cramping down on the injury which prevents enough blood flow to heal like it should. I can understand your wanting to get a "real" LIS this time. I wanted one but my CRS would not perfom one on me because of the nerve damage I have already. Fortunately my fissure healed but I also had problems with hemorrhoids, skin tags, prolapse etc.

Did you have some kind of injury? Can you tell me more about your history?

Cute kitty-I think this is a forum for cat lovers too!

Amy,
Are you in school and is it uncomfortable for you to sit? I don't have pelvic pain, so cannot answer your questions.

Oh my! You have had the decompression surgery? I went through all the injections but did not do the surgery. Did you have the surgery in France or in the states?

What is CPP? I had a large skin tag with my fissure too that was almost as painful as the fissure itself. I had a hemorrhoidectomy and fistula repair last year and the tag was taken off then. I did not get LIS. My CRS would not do one for me because of my history. I was able to heal with the diltiazem and baths and time but if it had gone on as long as yours I would have signed any thing I had to to get it done.
