Botox in 3 days

Postby Lsfb1989 » 05 Jul 2017, 13:37

I got a call today asking if I could come in this Saturday for the botox operation. Pre-Op via phone tomorrow, really hopeful this will cure me once and for all! Could anyone tell me how long (in general) the op should take? The registrar said they would also have a detailed look while I was knocked out, so that might make the op longer. X

I had Botox, skin tag removal and fissurectomy and the surgery took ten minutes. I was knocked out for half an hour in total and was 100% alert and felt fine right away.

I was quite sore around my anus for approximately a week after and I suspect that was from the Botox injections.
I'm a month out from the surgery now and I'm probably 90% recovered by now. BMs still feel a bit weird and I usually get a dull ache after BMs but I think that's due to the skin tag removal and fissurectomy. It's worth keeping in mind that I'd been totally pain free for a month before my surgery.

Good luck!

Hi both, thank you! I am wondering if some tags might also be removed as they are getting bigger. Do you think going back to work on the Monday is reasonable? I have a desk basedjob.

I think it will be fine if you only have the Botox injections. However, I'd say it's very optimistic to be back at work two days after if they remove the skin tag too or even more so if they'll remove more than one skin tag.

It might be fine if you take hard core painkillers. I only used paracetamol or ibuprofen and not the Tramadol I was given to bring home after the surgery. It took a week and two days until I was fairly comfortable sitting all day at home on the sofa.
I'd think at least a week off work is advisable if you have skin tags removed too.

Thank you! Noone has mentioned the tag removal, but I know they are getting larger, and are uncomfortable. I am sort of hoping when they are seen the surgeon decides to lop em off anyway, but I hadnt considered that would add to recovery time. Naivity, eh! Had the pre-op today via the phone. All set for 7;15am on sat.

If you want them removed ask the surgeon if s/he can remove the skin tag at the same time as you're knocked out anyway. Some surgeons are reluctant to remove them depending on circumstances whereas some seem pretty happy to remove them as standard operating procedure. It seems to be the same with fissurectomy, some surgeons seem to favour them whereas others never do them.

Good luck on Saturday! You should be home just after lunch hopefully. I had to produce a pee and then it took an hour and a half for the nurse to come and sort out the discharge and I was on my way home.

I forgot to say that I didn't have to do any prep at all before the surgery and you'll hopefully not have to do that either.

I should have clarified the no prep. No bum related prep. I could drink until 11am (clear liquids) for check in at the hospital at noon. I had to stop eating by 6am but didn't eat anything that morning as I was asleep at 6am.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!
