My son had an abscess and it clears up on it's own , a fistula is more like a tunnel and it varies. Sounds like you have the first one.

Thanks mamafizz! I'm not feeling like a trooper - down in the dumps and feel very gross and yucky. I did force myself to go for a walk though - was thinking of what you would do!!!

I'm hoping it is the former as you describe - although the hard ball is "deep" in the tissue (I really need to press to feel it) not on the surface which is not super reassuring to me.

I'm just so anxious to get to my surgeon next week. I don't care what tests or surgeries need to be done I just want this over with asap so I can move on!

Omg I know.... I would listen to Bob Marley song 3 little birds. every little things gonna be alright.. it helped with my crazy anxiousness. the more we resist the longer it takes... so go with the flow!! The Worst is over, any skin thing etc inflamation will clear up for sure.. I am pretty much just down to the muscle thingy .. it that might just be leftover tension and maybe the internal blood vessels. I read it could take 6 full months for those to clear so I am half way there with that!!!! My youngest daughters wedding is the first week of Aug. So I should be ready to dance it up by then!!! And you will be running your miles!!! Just like the good ole days!! :)

I'm glad it sounds like you're doing so well mamafizz! Lots of time to get to 100% by August!

The swelling and pain seems to have gone down quite a bit. I'm continuing the sitz baths and pressure to help drain, but not too much seems to be draining, a very little bit maybe.

Upset stomach this morning for no apparent reason, but I'm going to try and get out to do something.

A little more optimistic that this may pass on its own but still anxious to see the surgeon next week

Spoke too soon. Went out for two hours, and about 1hr and a half in the pain suddenly shot up. Got home, tried applying pressure and lots of draining. Doing sitz baths to help. But now I'm scared as whatever is there keeps filling up again and doesn't seem to be easily draining without applying pressure. I never have any spot on my underwear or on toilet paper unless I push on the spot.

I realllllly don't want to go back to emergency especially with the stomach pain I have today.

If there's no fever I'll at least try and wait until tomorrow or if I can Monday when I can speak to the surgeon again.

Frustrated

Awe man, that is probably understandable until it is fully healed. The thing is.. that we have been in pain for such a long time it doesn't feel as if there is any room left for anything else that generates more pain?! Fast Forward would be nice right?!
If there is no fever that is probably a good thing. And they did just look at it, so maybe just warm compresses if your sick of the sitz baths. Is the only pain your having is from this site now? If so that is really good news since this will surely clear up. And at least you got out for an hour or so, much better than last month right?!!! How are your muscles doing, if your not having any dull ache in those muscles that is a wonderful sign..

Yes mamafizz! Still much better than last month, thanks for putting things in perspective! I guess I'm nervous that I'll have to have more cutting down there, so I'll be back to square one of recovery, but it does seem as though the fissure is healed, the incision is healed, and the hemmorhoids have died down a lot since I don't have to strain so much! So mostly good, just this damn thing.

I don't have any aching like when the fissure started! Just a bruised feeling at the abscess that increases if it doesn't drain.

That's a good idea with the warm compress, I am getting tired of the baths. I have a cotton ball soaked in Epsom salt on it now, hopefully that will also help.

Having bad ibs today - ate poorly yesterday and the stress of this doesn't help! I also took Tylenol....wonder if anyone else gets a flare up from acetaminophen?

Hi Hun just a thought try adding some oregano oil to the compress mixed with olive oil....lots if hospitals use it in Europe to treat fistulas and other hard to treat infections. Think you can google it.
At least your feeling better than this time last month and that is a great thing.

Ah my mom may have some oregano oil! I will try that. Thanks for the tip!

I'm just sad that feeling better may be short lived. I know some people after LIS get a minor type of fistula that just travels from the incision to another opening - so they just lay open the track a little and it is fairly quick recovery...i shouldn't be doing all this reading but I'm so wound up! Argh. Anyways hope it is something quick and easy like that.
