Date: June 21th 9:00PM
Days since last BM: 4
Bristol: 3.5-4.5
Swelling: mild
Blood: yes
BM pain: 1-2
post BM pain: 4-5 controlable with baths
spasm: mild
Hours in bed: till 2AM with a few baths, then slept through the night till 11 AM
Pain next day: 0
First BM after 2nd cauterization, I expected it to be bad and was kind of, but given the circumstances it could've been much worse.
So one day before cauterization I already had 2 days past previous BM. So I knew I had to go but I was so tired I just couldn't risk one more night of suffering. Then on the day of cauterization I just freaked going knowing I have a fresh wound. Got away with some gas. So I went the next day and that added up to 4 days since previous BM. Although I was totally vegetarian, drank plenty of water I got a Bristol 3.5-4.5. Should've been OK in theory, but not on a fresh wound. There was some minor blood of course, but no serious pain during BM.
Then hem started to swell a little, some spasm too, but easily controllable with baths. Water temp was crucial, I knew I needed hot water for the spasm, but that could also cause hem inflammation. So 38-39 C worked well for both.
So I seriously need to go more often, I'll stick to the vegetarian diet and also take some laxatives, so I can go every other day at least.
I noticed one thing after the cauterization. Somehow I feel my anal canal wider and more relaxed after the fold has been opened. Is it possible that a fold of just 2mm that was stuck together could cause a sensation of tightness?

spasm: yes
Hours in bed: till 3AM with a few baths, then slept through the night
Pain next day: 0
It's been months since I went everyday. It didn't help me much though. I expected it too be all soft and small, since I went yesterday, but it wasn't. It was huge and no.4 like yesterday. It seems I didn't flush completely yesterday. I had the feeling something has left inside since yesterday and it bothered me all day. I was like should I stay or should I go? Especially that I wanna go to the beach tomorrow and I surely don't want a bad BM ruin my day. But eventually nature took its course and the plum I had on top of the water melon set thing going. Pain wasn't so bad during BM, but I definitely felt the raw part of the fissure. It is small though. Then I saw the melon seeds in the stool. Stupid me, since I had my appendix  removed I don't care about seeds anymore, but now I realize I should. I don't think they did any damage though, they were in the soft end of the stool.
And yes, no.4 is definitely too hard for a freshly cauterized fissure. I basically have a fissure in fissure now. Like 2 fissures in different stages.
I really regret doing the 2nd cauterization, but I just couldn't get the CRS off of me. I have to trust him though. There was pain, I spent a few hours in the tub. But at least it's controllable. Still I wanna ask for a 2nd round of botox. It's like I've been set back with a month at least. Don't want this ruining my summer.
The good thing is that the pain seems to subside after 4h. But still, it's such a waste. Good that my hems don't cause problems anymore since I'm taking the medication for them.
Bottom line is that I can't do this everyday, so I'll switch back to pooping every 2 days. I realize that 3-4 days between BMs it's too much. Doesn't work in the summer, even with a vegetarian diet and plenty of fruits and water. It worked well while it was cold outside, I was able to keep my stool at 5-6. But now with the heat outside I seem to loose too much water.
So I'll compromise with 2 days between BMs and going to look for Milk Of Magnesia tomorrow. I definitely need a stool softener, I just hope it wouldn't make me go too often.

Date: June 25th 8:30PM
Days since last BM: 3
Bristol: 5-7
Swelling: mild
Blood: more than usual and darker
BM pain: 1-2 with a peak of 3 when Bristol 7 came
post BM pain: 2-3, no baths required
spasm: almost got away with no spasm at all, but got too brave and took a few steps around the room, which trigerred a bit of contraction, nothing serious
Hours in bed: till 1AM then slept through the night, with minor stinging a couple of times
Pain next day: 0
BM was a bit worse than usual with blood and some more pain, so I expected stronger post BM pain, luckily it wasn't the case. Back on track with stool consistency, almost got into diarrhea. Went overboard with peaches and peers, got me some stomach ache and I've also caught a cold. Adding the anal pain to all this really made feel sick all over.
However, today I feel great, no stomach ache and no anal pain at all. I only have to treat the cold.
So, it seems my fissure really starts to heal now.

Re: Diary of pain

Postby bgd » 29 Jun 2013, 09:36

Date: June 29th 12:30PM
Days since last BM: 3.5
Bristol: 4-6
Swelling: mild
Blood: minor
BM pain: 1-2
post BM pain: 2-3 controllable with baths
spasm: minor
Hours in bed: 7-8
Pain next day: 1-2
I now realize I have and might always had a condition called "lazy bowels". I just can't get my bowels moving, even with a pure vegetarian diet, even though my stool consistency is relatively OK. Fear of pooping only aggravated this condition. I had everything that was suppose to make me go these days, like beans, pears, prunes, fruit juice, you name it. I did angel gas my ass off though. Real loud ones, like coming from an empty pipe, although I ate more than usual these days.
So on the 4th day I stuck up 2 glycerin suppositories around noon, cause I was afraid of getting constipated from the flu medication I took these days. They worked and got me going half an hour later, but they also gave me some cramps, really don't want to get addicted to glycerin. My stools also look more normal in diameter and shape, don't have those pencil thin flat stools anymore. I think this is a sign of a more relaxed sphincter.
I also got to experience a daytime BM after a long time. Total screw up, ruined my day. I prefer a bad sleep rather than a day spent in bed. Although my pain levels are more in the discomfort zone now, I realize I'm still tied to bed long hours after BM. I tried walking around and ended up messing too much with the bath tub, which only gave me more swelling and so on. I was focused all day on the anal discomfort, which gave me a repressed feeling of anger.
I'll continue to plan my BMs for the evening so I can at least mask the fact that I'm disabled for at least 8h after BM. I also imagine it is better for the fissure to lay down and be still for as long as possible after BM.
I don't know if I should be grateful that I got rid of the big pain relatively fast (2-3 months) compared to others or I should be angry for this annoying sick-ass sensation that keeps haunting me every other day.

11h past BM I still feel tight. Doing normal activities definitely increases recovery time. No more daytime BMs.

Date: July 2nd 11:30PM
Days since last BM: 3.5
Bristol: 4
Swelling: mild
Blood: minor
BM pain: 1-2
post BM pain: 4-4.5 needed several baths
spasm: moderate
Hours in bed: whole night, awake till 5:30AM, slept till 9:15AM
Pain next day: 2-3
Definitely not doing enough to soften my stools. Again delayed BM for too long, I just freaked going in time, fissure felt so sensitive still. I used a glycerin suppository to soften the ending but the middle was still bulky. Somehow the fissure didn't hurt that much this time and the type of pain was different. A deep throbbing pain that is coming from the right side, not from the fissure site. Could be hem pain. 14h post BM it is still there, slowly calming down.

Yes, I went through the 2nd cauterization two weeks ago, it's a couple of posts back (had 2mm cauterized out of the total 5mm fissure, which was 15mm long initially). It brought back some of the early days pain, nothing like that nightmare though. But eventually the results is the same: i'm stuck in bed for long hours and sleepless nights, pain is bearable but just strong enough to keep me awake.
I'll have my checkup later today, CRS was also planning on starting banding hems which I will totally refuse for now. I wanna let this new wound heal for  a while. I'm also craving for botox. I think they are trying to be cheap on the 2nd botox shot, since I payed a one time fee for the whole treatment.
Splinterboy, are you referring to Milk Of Magnesia (magnesium hydroxide)? Or is magnesium oxide another product? Unfortunately I wasn't able to find Milk Of Magnesia on the local market, so I just started taking magnesium pills I while ago. Still waiting for the effect.
But my main problem is that I don't go often enough. I'm 2 days past previous BM and I think it will come this evening though. I had lots of fruits yesterday so I'm positive it will be real soft.
