Simply because I store stool too much. I've been on fruits and veggies for months, but not pooping for 3-4 days will inevitably dry out the stool. I never got really constipated since I started treating my fissure, but even Bristol 4 seems to be too hard on it.
So I'm working on pooping more often, I had some crazy food combinations yesterday like beans then pears, peaches and apricots. Got my bowels moving eventually, so I just went today after 2 days and I got Bristol 5-6, so soft on my fissure. Three hours after BM I still didn't get much pain, fingers crossed so I can sleep through the night.
Anyways, a much better BM experience than last time.

Date: July 4th 9:30PM
Days since last BM: 2
Bristol: 5-6
Swelling: minor
Blood: minor
BM pain: 1-2
post BM pain: short peak of 3-4, then 2, eventually pain stopped completely after 4h, sphincter very relaxed
spasm: moderate
Hours in bed: 4 then slept through the night
Pain next day: 0 when I woke up, then 2-2.5 after bath and applying ointment and Manuka
Got the perfect stool consistency and it payed off. I will try to have a BM every other day from now on. Maybe I should cut back on Manuka, it's very thick and it gives me a feeling of fullness upon application which seems to trigger pain. I think it has done its job already in scarring the wound.
Nothing major to report on yesterday's checkup, a short visual and massage, fissure looking good. CRS was puzzled about the fact that I'm still getting pain occasionally. He explained that pain can also come from the new tissue. It is still sensitive until it thickens.

Date: July 6th 8PM
Days since last BM: 2
Bristol: 5.5-6
Swelling: minor
Blood: barely noticeable, could've been some melon flesh as well
BM pain: 1-2
post BM pain: short peak of 3 resolved with a bath
spasm: short peak, mild
Hours in bed: 4 then slept through the night
Pain next day: 0
Realized that having small meals doesn't help getting my bowels move. I need a certain fullness in order to be able to go. So I started eating normally, lots of fruits of course. It paid off, going every other day, having really soft stools. Pain is much lower and more importantly of shorter duration. 4h after BM my sphincter is relaxed enough so I can fall asleep.

Date: July 8th 8PM
Days since last BM: 2
Bristol: 4.5-5
Swelling: minor
Blood: no
BM pain: 1-2
post BM pain: short peak of 3-4 resolved with a bath
spasm: short peak, mild
Hours in bed: 5 then slept through the night, but woke up a couple of times
Pain next day: 0
Slightly harder stool, caused some longer duration pain. One single can of fish in 2 days was enough to cause a formed stool. So easy to get off track.

Date: July 12th 7:30PM
Days since last BM: 2
Bristol: 5.5-6
Swelling: mild
Blood: no
BM pain: 0
post BM pain: peaks of 3-4, resolved with baths
spasm: yes
Hours in bed: 6, fell asleep and woke up again at 4AM
Pain next day: 0-1
Got a real soft one, totally pain free. Felt my anus healthier after a long time, almost felt like going for a walk. But somehow the aftermath seems to be the same, waking up at nights with my butt squeezing. Nothing dramatic, just a constant squeeze that won't go away, enough to keep me awake. Puzzled and frustrated.
Something has changed though, walking seems to ease the pain.
