Check-up

Postby bgd » 08 Aug 2013, 09:29

Periodic checkup after 3 weeks. Clearly stated that it should be "no hands"! Doctor just had a look, but I still felt a small pinch.
Healed another millimeter. Rhomboid shape 2x2x2x2mm, was 3x3x3x3 3 weeks ago. That makes it about 3mm long I guess. Since it started at 15mm 4 months ago, that means 80% healing. Pretty satisfied.
We decided to put botox on hold, since I had no pain for the past 4 BMs.

That's amazing news b. That setback of yours on the 29th looked concerning but you've done well since then. 80% is great!!
My only advice would be to stick to your diet ( I know meat is loooovely and I'm dying for a pork sausage or steak right now) but in your healing stages you really need to concentrate on the food you eat (without relying on stool softeners and such - sometimes these have a blip) but if your diet is working well, the blips in the softeners won't be felt.
Keep up the good work and the updates. It's great seeing your progression!

Re: Diary of pain

Date: Aug 8th 8:30 PM
Days since last BM: 2
Bristol: 4.5-6
Swelling: minor
Blood: no
BM pain: 1
Post BM pain: 1-2, short peak of 4 after 7h
Spasm: yes
Hours in bed: 0, doing regular activities after BM
Pain next day: 0-1
4 steps forward, half step back.
So that minor pinch I felt during check-up took its toll, even though CRS was gentle this time. Combine that with a slightly formed stool (4.5) due to not drinking enough water and forgetting to take my flax seeds. Also neglected Manuka and ointments lately. But the main thing was that I didn't have the chance to do relaxation bath and vaseline before BM, it came so fast. The result is that I woke up 7h post BM with pain level 4. Luckily I'm at the stage where a short bath and some ointment resolves anything. So the whole thing only last like 10-15 min and I was able to fall asleep again.
Just a reminder that I need to be extra careful to maintain the results I achieved lately. So decided today to start doing things religiously again, as it payed off so far.
And how about not going to checkup at all or maximum once per month? Seriously, I'm not getting anything out of it other than a statistical measurement of the fissure, which works great on my placebo and cheering, but nothing more.

Hi bgd!  I am about five or six months into healing from a very bad AF. Keep on going!  You might want to peek at my pain dairy (see Pain Levels during natural healing); I think I posted it under Success Stories).  I definitely relate to very slow, two steps forward, one step back kind of experience.  I'm feeling pretty good this week...it could happen to you, too!  Just keep going!Image

Hi Pain!
Saw your post, nice progress. Fingers crossed we never again get fissures that size. Re-tears might be inevitable during a lifetime, however taking them to 1.5 cm like I did takes a lot of ignorance too, so I only blame myself. Lesson learned, now I know the measures I need to take IMMEDIATELY after a re-tear and not let it crack on to such sizes.

Amen to that!  It's true that I didn't know what it was until weeks into the process.  We're armed with information now!  Hope you have a good day today!:D

Read your diary, it was the second one after JHH's.
You are one tough fighter indeed!  Image
I guess that my pains are not as severe as yours were at the beginning but my goal is to rid of them completely.
I am two days after botox injection, hope it will work.
BTW - my AF was 3x5 on Friday Image
Have a good night

Not long ago my fissure was like your size, so I remember very well that it can cause quite some pain. I'm pretty sure at this size botox will work wonders, as it helped when tremendously when my fissure was 15mm long. Couldn't have done it without it, so hellish was the pain.
Take care
