Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in. What started as a simple check-up ended up in a fistulotomy on the spot.
The lump I had turned out to be a fistula, not an abscess. Even though my CRS removed a fold that was creating a pocket in my fissure about a month ago, it seems to have formed again, thus retaining fecal matter. That caused infection on the bottom of the fissure and a subsequent fistula about 2-3cm long. It didn't reach the outside of the anus luckily.
The procedure was pretty awful, I hate needles first of all. Then the CRS drained and cauterized the whole fistula channel and since it was deep I did feel some pain. Less than 2 hours after the procedure I don't feel a lot of pain. No spasm, it's more of a wound like pain on the outside of the anus. And the lump is gone, it seems to have drained pretty well.
The fissure itself didn't heal much in the past month, probably due to the fistula. So it's still around 2mm long. But now that it has been brutalized I'm afraid it will cause pain again. And the challenge is to keep the hole open, so it heals from the inside out.
I'm just afraid this is the beginning of a long series of fistulotomies. So here I am moving to the fistula thread. What a nightmare. I feel it's my fault that I didn't return to the checkup in time.
