Hi HTD,
Didn't need the toilet yesterday so am feeling a lot better just dreading the next BM. I ate very little yesterday and have decided I am going to try the paleo diet I know this will prob increase my BMs for the next few weeks but from what I remember they did give me Bristol 3 eventually and consistently for 6 months and if I'm having LIS in late October that might be what I need. Then I should be able to come off the loperamide and codeine...I can't take ibuprofen as it irritates my stomach even with food. Although I do put the cream on the bottom of my back.
Thanks so much for your kind words it really does help knowing there are people who understand and empathise.
Here hoping for a nice friendly BM today

wow! the paleo diet would not be good for me. its hard for us to guide each other on diets as our guts are so different. But hope it works for you. I am hoping your next BM is bearable. Yes the LIS will work well for you. You will recover easily - remember i had two of them - each was just a blurry dot in my memory as the recovery seemed so much easier and quicker thank botox. glad i am able to help you somehow. take care friend.
Best wishes

I know, everyone's diet is so different but I seem to be on the other end of the spectrum than most of the lovely people on here...I read what you all eat and think...I would be in hell if I ate that lol.
Still not been to the toilet but I didn't eat properly for two days and just had 3 florets of broccoli and 6 asparagus so I'm not too worried. I will probably end up having to go today as it's my daughters birthday and we have lots of things planned so I have no doubt it will decide to show off later.
Yes I'm really hoping the LIS does the trick for me, Botox has made a difference but not enough and I have to keep telling myself it was just a step on the road to LIS.
You really have made this much more bearable HTD so thanx again

Happy birthday to your little girl. I know you mentioned she is in her teens but for us they are always our little girls. Hope everything goes smoothly. Hope you are able to tolerate some more food today. sounds like you ust be starving! Yes keep believing there is that secret weapon LIS to cure this once and for all. You will keep improving even before that. I have all the faith. Take it easy and stay with the foods friendly for you.
I will check in in a couple days. A busy week. Take care
best wishes

Thanx HTD,
Yes she 16 but like you say still my little girl. Well I had a BM this morning, my much preferred Bristol 3 no residue, again no pain during and only slight discomfort after and to be fair my bowel behaved until after all the celebrations then it decided to go twice in 30 mins Bristol 4 and residue am now laid awake at 2am with a distinct feeling that it's not over yet and I'm already in pain. I had a little and I do mean little bit of cake and a minuscule amount of fruit juice, so I guess I should have realised this was going to happen.
Just hoping not to many more visits to the toilet tonight.
Straight back on the paleo diet for me tomorrow as I'm hoping that produced the nice Bristol 3 this morning

Hello MPB,
Been travelling again and back to travels in a couple days. I am glad your daughter's 16th B day went well. I know its not all over but it sounds a little better than the previous couple of days. are you back on the paleo diet now? How have you been doing? I hope the pain was bearable and you were able to work. Hopefully Sunday is very restful. I have started to apply Olive oil externally and it has been giving me great relief. Basically I have substituted olive oil for coconut oil everywhere as with iit just seems to be more easily available. I have noticed it gives me a lot of relief - ie both external and internal - 1 take 1 tsp twice a day and apply externally everytime I use the nifedipine cream. I know your IBS does not tolerate oils but how about external application?
How is the Oregano oil working out? Praying for improvement for you soon.
warm wishes and hugs,
HTD

Well it's been a good couple of days thankfully. The paleo diet really does help so have been mostly pain free, was stood up all day yesterday so that increased the discomfort to actual pain with a very tearing feeling right where my fissure is. I wish that my emotions didn't affect my bowel as I have really enjoyed these 4 days of BMs at Bristol 3 with no residue it really does make a difference. Unfortunately I know as soon as I get stressed my bowel will rebel again...so trying to meditate and am looking forward to when I can change jobs.
HTD I did try the olive oil but didn't really notice a difference but that was in the beginning when the spasms were at their worst, so I might give it another go. I feel the oregano is helping in a way but more do to it's antibacterial qualities than it's healing...I may mix the two instead of coconut oil.
Just waiting for my appointment for September to come through really would like to see my CRS.

Hi there MPB, glad there have been better days for the most part. its amazing how much the fissure controls our state of mind and vice versa. I hope the stress had been bearable. Meditation and yoga have worked for me though I do not do them everyday. Standing can make it very uncomfortable - is there anyway you can sit for a little bit - break it down into different positions that help you - even walking beats standing around - I think so maybe a few steps here and there while on your feet?
take care - keep your spirits up - I Know when you see the CRS it will be good news.
Best

I also can't do the meditation everyday wish I had the time but think that's a bit of a vicious circle there lol.
Standing is the worst for me even worse than sitting, but sometimes when I teach it's in a room with no chair for the teacher and it's not possible to pace as I have to be away from the screen. Was not a pleasant feeling, to be honest it needs to be a proper walk a couple of steps don't do much lol.
Had a good BM this morning Bristol 3 and no residue, no pain just stinging but only for twenty mins, it's so nice when this happens if only I could guarantee this for every BM I would be eternally happy. Why do our emotions have to affect our digestion gggrrrr.
I feel that as long as I don't have too many trips to the toilet I will have healed enough for LIS in October/November

Well what a difference 12 hours makes 3 liquid visits to the toilet and I'm in agony again. Think the Botox may be wearing off too as there is an underlying feeling of tightness there not quite a spasm but not far off.
Not sure what I ate or whether I just need to take more meds till my body is used to this change of diet. Don't think it was stress as I wasn't feeling it. Just hoping it slows down now so I can get to work without being in proper pain, it's about a 6 right now don't want to start having spasms.
Think I will try and phone the CRS again if I get a break at work.
