I hope all is well suzyljank, I had my LIS yesterday thanks partially to your encouragement. After reading yours and other stories I feel very fortunate for the little bit of pain I am experiencing so far. I attribute my lack of pain due to the advise from you and others on this forum. I hope your suffering eases and your difficulties are eliminated soon. I'm pulling for you! Image

Thanks everyone. I woke up a few minutes ago and had a fully formed normal BM, yeah. My husband, god bless got up and helped rinse me off to make sure everything was clean. I can't believe how gentle he is with me. My donor sites are still out of this world painful. Just rinsing them with water is excruciating. But there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel. This is a scary surgery but if anyone out there needs to have it just know it's bearable. I think this would have been a lot easier if I had just had a single flap. And the pain I'm experiencing is not like fissure pain. I'm looking forward to the day I can sit down. I also thought being a lady of leisure would be great but it sucks. There are only so many tv shows you can watch and books you can read. I have two little dogs that keep me company but my little guy Cooper is a pillow thief. I keep one under my legs when I sleep and I wake up every night to catch him slowly pulling the pillow out from under me so he can sleep on it. At least they keep me smiling. Suzy

Hello Suzy,
I have read almost all your posts across forum, and very familiar to you story. Wish you the end of this annoying disease.
However, if you don't mind I would like to ask you several questions about reasons and actually this hemmi surgery you had back in 1983y.
What was the surgery method performed?
You stated that suffered starting from 2008 only, does it mean you had nice life till that, and this complication(stenosis due to scar tissues) appeared only after 25 years?
Have you got any hemmi problems since surgery was done?
I am just curious as performed hemmi surgery as well, where as I see a lot of tissue were removed, now after 3 months wounds are still not covered with scar, and there are 2 uclers on 12 and 6 hours. I am plan to give them one-two months more to heal, other wise I am afraid a should go for some botox or LIS, or whatever options will be.
Hemmorhoids were not really troubling me, just wanted not to return to this problem after my son is born, to take care fully of him and my wife. However life turned that wife should take care of me, as 3 months in a row of pain i stupidly depressing stuff.
Sorry jumping in your thread with my problem here. But I really from heart understand you and wish get the end of this.

Hi, IGRIK1986,
I got hemorrhoids while I was pregnant. I had them 11 years before I had surgery. I was hemmoraging and they couldn't stop it so I had the surgery. I'm not sure what type it was but they took a large amount of tissue. Looking back now I realize I was having trouble right after surgery but it was so slight I didn't really put it together. First I noticed it was getting difficult to have a BM. I could go but I never felt like I finished, I also have IBS which complicated things for me. I walked around for years feeling like I needed to have a BM and I just got used to it. Then I would notice some burning sometimes, I got used to that too. I got my first fissure in early 2002, but it finally healed on it's own. My second fissure came in 2005 and it caused so much pain, I tried to heal it but after 9 months I had LIS. This gave me a little relief but not a lot. I kept getting small tears but they would heal. Last year I got a tear that wasn't healing. It finally seemed to heal after 6 months but my bms were no wider than a straw. My bum had so much scar tissue walking was uncomfortable. I saw my CRS just a few weeks ago and he scheduled surgery. I had anal stenosis, with chronic inflammation. No matter what I would have done this would not have fixed itself. My surgery was a bilateral sliding flap anoplasty (2 sides) with dilation. I'd like to say it's an easy surgery but it's not. It's also not horrendous though.I was told from the beginning that it would be painful but I have a great husband who has been there every step of the way. He helps to clean me up, pack my surgical site and he makes sure I eat and drink enough. I don't know how I got so lucky but I'm so grateful I did. I can't tell you which surgery would help you the most but I would suggest you find a doctor other than the one that performed your hemorrhoid surgery. And to anyone out there considering hemmie surgery, try to avoid it. The number one complication is stenosis which leads to fissures. My CRS will only do banding now. Because of the long term complications from traditional hemmie surgery he avoids it.
If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Lots of good wishes sent your way. Suzy

I have difficulties to have BM as well. It is formed and nice, I am on diet fully. But I have to push so much and hard to get it out of me. Afterwards then I check results they are 0 (oval) formed, not O(circle) formed.
I cannot imagine, some burger or whatever with milt coming out. This makes me so much worry about situation. I am eating vegetables, some meat + miralax each day. Should not they come out easy, without straining.
I was thinking I donot relax completely, but I do as don't have much pain. I feel like my stomach working and pushing BM out of me, but it ends up on the exit collecting but not going out.
Sound like stenosis?

Hi, stenosis is scar tissue. Scar tissue does not stretch. Your doctor would be able to tell but I can't. I can only say for me the narrowing got so bad I could barely get a q-tip inside.
If you catch stenosis early enough your doctor and you can do dilation to help keep the passage open, so please if you suspect this don't delay getting an appointment. Waiting too long can cause more problems in the long run. Let me know how things go for you. Suzy

Hi,
How is your today Suzy? How are your open wounds? Are they already red and healing?
As per me, I had surgery on 07.02.2013, doc removed external/combined hemorrhoids and left open wound to heal with second intention. Healing is not quick though, I am at 3 months mark now, but there are still 2 ulcers.
Regarding doc, I told him my symptoms regarding difficulties to pass BM. But he told, that easily got his finger inside me, and all around is soft. So there is no appearing stenosis as per his view.
Though, I went to second opinion 1 month ago, to doctor whom was very unpleasant, and first thing asked why did't I perform surgery at this hospital. Nevertheless he subscribed some gel for healing, antibiotics(not sure why), omeprazol and told to do dilation with finger through pain which is not possible as there are two fissure, and it is painful like hell!!
Then I went for third opinion and doc(woman) during her exam hurt me so much, and made fissure bigger with blood, as I was in spasm I think, but she still insisted her finger inside me and broke fissure. Told to use some cream and wished me good luck. B***!!
After so unsuccessful "second" opinion, I decided not to go to doctors anymore and wait a bit, and give change for ulcers to heals.
Yesterday BM was not so painful and quite bearable. But I had to strain so much, that my external hemmi pushed up. I went for surgery to get rid of external hemmi, but already now 3 months after this stupid surgery I got
1. My external hemmi back and enlarged
2. Two unhealed wounds/ulcers
3. Difficulty to pass BM, suspected stenosis.
Don't ever go for hemmi surgery if only it is not life dangerous!
I don't know where can I find doctor whom is in charge of problem and can assist with understanding. But I feel so much depressed, that even thinking about suicide.
How do I know, got I stenosis or just spasm? Sorry of so much crying here, but I spoiled my life in one day, just wanted to get it better, and stupid surgery made it so bad at the moment. I am so frustrated.

Hi, I'm really sorry you're in so much pain.
My open donor sites are about 1/2 to an 1 inch away from anus. I wish I could say they don't hurt but they do. My husband says they are healing but to me they feel raw. The gauze feels like sandpaper rubbing on my behind so he went and bought softer stuff. I've only been able to self dilate once so far because of pain. My doctor suggested a tapered candle. You lube it with kyjelly and only have to insert a little way. Haven't tried this yet . My next appointment is in 2 days. I had a bad day yesterday but I was warned the recovery is slow and painful..... I'm finally able to tolerate sitz baths and they feel good. I still have hope though. Like I said before, if your doctor recommends hemmie surgery don't do it. The complications can be awful. Advancement flap surgery is the only way to replace the tissue that was removed and scarred over. If they would have had miralax many years ago I might have been able to manage better and maybe I could have avoided the surgery altogether, but who knows . We all have to deal with the here and now. I hope you're able to heal, maybe time is what is needed. Remember to keep your bms soft, that's very important. Sending my prayers for a speedy recovery. Suzy

Suzy,
Just wanted to pass this link on to you as you navigate through trying dilation. These range in size from very small 3mm up to 19 mm in 1mm increments. Just as a point of reference, 15mm is about the size of a finger.
http://www.ssp-inc.com/Pediatric_Anal_Dilators.aspx
I hope the donor sites start to give you a break from all that pain soon. I'm reminded of my own experiences with various surgeries and how time can just feel like it's going so slowly. Hopefully you'll be turning a corner soon that at least puts this initial level of pain behind you.
igrik
i'm so sorry to hear about your ongoing problems and pain. I'm not sure where you are located but it sounds like you really need a top colorectal specialist to help sort through all of this with you. I really wish there was something we could say or do here that would really turn things around for you, but we can be here to do what we can with information, resources and support.
