Why don't you try a CRS instead of a GS though? I am not familiar with Canada's healthcare system, however CRSs are really knowledgeable in regards to such matters. Can't you just call a CRS and schedule a meeting in his office and pay him privately? You're going to spend some money for sure, but he may reach a conclusion quicker and more accurately.

I have seen my GP today. While waiting in the examination room one of the secretaries came in to take my blood pressure. Mentioned her husband had suffered with a fistula for 1.5 years and 3 operations. The first 2 with a general surgeon. The 3rd with CRS.

She gave the CRS name to the GP and he made a referral. The CRS is located in a hospital in the city. If they can take me I will await their call.

I don't know how easy it is or trustworthy they are at finding a reputable walk-in clinic. I believe here in Canada most CRS see patients based on a referral basis.

That sounds very promising. I hope that you get a call soon, letting you know that you have an appointment.

Some provinces have private health care, alongside public medicine, but in Ontario, I think that you're right about only being seen by referral. You can, however, have a CRS do a colonoscopy privately, but they won't do other things on the side.

If you do a search on this board, you will find info about Rudd. I had forgotten about them, but there have been discussions.

Hi for everyone reading this I have been fistula free since May 2018. For anyone being afraid of surgery just do it! The only way to cure this is surgery.
