My doctor also made me appointment for a colorectal surgeon who visits our local hospital but my doctor thinks the first guy will be better I'm also going to pay for an appointment with a private specialist an she I guess will do what ever they do during a consultation? What do they do during a consultation? I just want to go so she can tell me exactly what's going on and what I need but if I'm not going to get that I'll save my $300nzd?

Hey FV, the Botox is helping but I'm finding it hard these days to get the right stool consistency. So I'm working on that with miralax, sodium docusate and benefiber.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

I'm drinking about 2.5 - 3 liters daily. I find it very difficult to drink more than that because then I would be running to the bathroom every half an hour!

Hi guys please reply. So ive learnt here in nz thay don't offer lis first it's fissurectomy an botox first then lis an they dont check anal tone before hand they will how ever if they notice someone is clearly high toned they will send you off for the test at an extra cost. If the fissurectomy doesn't solve the problem they then do lis or more botox. My question for everyone here is how how successful is a fissurectomy and botox. An just a note I healed for 5 months during my pregnancy 6 weeks ago an it came back 4weeks aftrr having my baby please anyone advice?? Everyone on this site seems to talk about lis no I feel like i cant get lis so I'm hoping fissurectomys are just as good?

Hi Missy, I had Botox it has healed for me... I had the fissure for 5 months, terrible spasms. it was in ano and then had Botox under sedation. It was healed in about a month. That was about 3.5 almost 4 months ago. The surgeon said it is the equivalent of LIS. Only it is not permanent but most heal completely without recurrence. For me so far so good. I have some muscle residual but that is gradually getting better as well. I have been taking diosomin/hesperidan supplement (It is found in citrus fruit peels etc. it is great for blood vessels and healing in that area) So you may want to consider. I had 6 babies and was told this was the best option. Best and prayers to you for healing...I never had a fissure before. And it did heal pretty fast so did not discuss surgery.

The surgeon never mentioned that but he did say I had two internal hems and that the fissure was a good size and located a little bit to the right?! Whatever that means... at the follow up check up after the botox (which I had in the hospital outpatient-- very quick- they put me to sleep) and he performed an exam with anoscope and everything else was good. They claim the Botox works 80 to 90 percent of the time. It is less invasive then surgery. But has a good outcome typically.
