Sorry to hear it Mike. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon. The LIS won't prevent a new fissure but it is supposed to help heal a new one quickly. I would just be sure to keep things soft...maybe a stool softener and do some warms soaks if you can. Are you having much pain?

Hi Again,

The pain is moderate and so far pretty constant. Not nearly as bad as before so hoping it will heal quickly. I have started soaking a couple of times a day and still using Metamucil, don't want to add a softener because then it will increase the frequency of BM's. As it is 4 times a day and that is not helping...lol. Keeping fingers crossed that it will be better in a few days.

Thank you for always being around to answer questions.

You are very welcome Mike.

Glad the pain isn't as bad as before. I know what you mean by the frequent BMs. That's definitely an enemy of mine.

Just to let you know, they say it takes months for that new tissue to become strong again. That is why this is common. In about a year, I think, it is supposed to be at 80%. So it can take a long time to really be back to normal.

Dear msimon,

Again, thank you so much. You have a wealth of information, that somehow the Doctors forget to tell us.

Hi msimon (wish I knew your first name...lol),

Thank you for asking. Doing okay, I hope you are well. I did get another fissure, but not bad pain and I believe it is healing.

Still dealing with back and neck pain(muscle pain, I think) that came about after the surgery, not sure why, but I heard it is common.

Mike, it's Melissa :)

Glad to hear you think the fissure is healing. Fingers crossed it continues to behave itself.

I also have pain all over since the surgery, especially, back, neck and hips. A good massage therapist or chiropractor can help that. Do you have one?

Hi Melissa,

Actually, my brother is a chiropractor in Calgary and has been working on me. I have had massage, acupuncture and most recently my GP has been giving me non-steroidal injections(which has not been helping). Going back to my brother soon, just too busy catching up on work. I missed so much time recovering after the surgery, I am still behind.
