I thought the same thing but apparently it takes time and everyone is different. Makes it even harder when you just have no clue when will it end

It's so frustrating as I had the spasms more or less under control. Yes I was in pain but there is no way I can even get down the stairs right one let alone function as a human being and a mother.

Yea the minute you think you have a handle on it it rears its ugly head. I cant count how many times that has happened

Sorry to hear youre in pain MPB. Bite the bullet. You'll be ok soon. Just think of it in terms of the long run...
Im also going through a rough patch right now and I just want a guarantee on when this will end. A few days pain free. Nothing at all. BMs like before. Normal. No spasm. Then suddenly last night I went through hell again. Today Im raw and dreading the next BM but it has to come out either way.

Heres to biting the bullet and being strong till we heal. Youre not alone.
Think of it this way. You are on your way to recovery.

Thanx IT,
it really helps to know I'm not alone, the cocodamol has kicked in and pain is now a 7 so thankfully I can move again even if it is just to the sofa.
I just hate the spasms I would put up with the burning stinging aching if I could just get rid of these agonising spasms.
Sorry to hear you too had a bad night. I too long for the time I can just be normal.
Just having a scone and some toast today need to be safe hopefully that won't set me off.
Here's hoping our pain decreases

Well thinks it's going to be a 7 all day as there is n let up in the pain...I'm back in the bath which is managing to take it down to a 5/6 but know as soon as I get out I will be back upto a 7. All this pain because I tried to eat something healthy....well I won't be making that mistake again anytime soon. Had my scone and a loperamide can't take anymore painkillers as my children will be home soon so got to wait till bedtime....this is going down as one of my worse days since my first week of Botox.

I'm really sorry to hear that the LIS hasn't been very effective yet.

I also suffered terribly from chronic diarrhea before the surgery, and accidentally discovered that it had been caused by coffee (I only consumed a cup and a half per day, and had done so for 20 years with no trouble before, so had no idea that it could have been the source of my trouble). I recently started to have diarrhea again, and ended up having quite severe fissure pain, but once I got the diarrhea under control again (after carefully studying my diet on days when I didn't have diarrhea vs. the days I did, I discovered that I needed to eat a boiled potato with the skin on every day, and have been diarrhea-free for about 4 weeks now). I know that everyone's bowel action and susceptibility is completely different, so it's unlikely that those foods would help you, but if you can somehow find a way to keep your stools hard, that might be the real answer to your problem, and a route to getting back to your old (happy) life.

Hi chachacha,
I have had this since I was about 16 probably earlier. I know I have to stay away from dairy and oils but other than that one day I can eat something and be fine the next day I eat the same thing and I'm on the toilet 5x.
I think I need to go back to see a specialist and right now will up my loperamide as it's the only thing that works but even that doesn't always do it.
I never used to mind but with the fissure it's horrendous and I have no clue how it will ever heal. Will be going to see my GP this week to see if we can't get this under some kind of control. Otherwise I'm asking for a colostomy as I cannot live in this pain and I'm loosing so much weight...since this started I have now lost well over 7 stone and even though I had extra weight even I'm starting to look thin now.
