Hi Rachael,

I did the bath two weeks post LIS as my doctor was good with the baths, then, I went to a quick shower as you note to clean the area. If I did not do a good job of cleaning, I got an itch.

Thanks Roids....
ThanksM, hard going through the surgery, now the recovery....

Day 3

BM wasn't quite as bad. No pain on BM just a horrible intense sting afterwards... Straight into bath. Pain is manageable afterwards.... Had horrible aggravating itching today. It's driving me mad. Sure when I'm getting hot it's worse. I am commando!

Unfortunately I feel like I've been punched in the throat.... Very uncomfortable, I'm sure the combination of having the cold before going in and having the tube down my throat whilst under hasn't helped. I'll call the doc on Monday if it doesn't ease. I'm exhausted too.... This has taken a lot out of me.

I'm eating my normal fissure friendly diet...l anyone got any ideas for a pick me up, that would be Fissure friendly? I thought maybe some kind of super smoothie..... Xxxxx

Please god let me heal......

We are all rooting for you to heal, Rachael. You will - it's only day 3 and it sounds as though things are getting gradually better down there. Sorry about your throat. That sounds wretched. Smoothies are a great idea. I've heard of some fabulous smoothies, such as spinach and blueberry.

This site has some great ideas for healthy smoothies. http://simplegreensmoothies.com/green-smoothie-101

Here's a recipe I found that has some dairy in (for fats). I forget whether you can eat dairy?
2/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 ripe banana
2/3 cup frozen blueberries
2 large frozen strawberries
1 cup spinach leaves
1/2 cup milk of choice (dairy, coconut, soy, almond)
2 teaspoons protein powder (optional)
1 tablespoon of honey, or to taste

What about a nourishing soup?

Gently saute some onions and garlic in a saucepan. If you like, add some powdered spices, like cumin and ground coriander seeds, or garam masala. When onions are soft, add about a cup of red lentils (rinsed), a teaspoon of turmeric, some salt, and two cups of water. Boil until lentils are cooked - 20-30 mins. You may need to add more water. If you want, when cooked, puree in a blender. The lentils should be pretty well pureed just by cooking, but you may want to get rid of the onion lumps.

There are so many variations you can make. You can add some slices of ginger root in the boiling water - if you want, remove them before puree-ing. You could add a squeeze of lemon. You could cook the lentils in chicken or vegetable broth. Sometimes I add some nutritional yeast. Sometimes I'll sizzle some whole spices, like cumin seeds and chopped garlic, in veg oil or ghee (in a separate pan), and stir that in at the last minute.

Onions, garlic and turmeric are supposed to be good for healing.

Good luck!
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

I had that awful sore throat after my op... And it made me cough at night.....that hurt my poor bum I can tell you!!
If your like me, it will take ages to get over the whole ordeal.
Scientist has given some great ideas there! Another thing I had was a few bottles of lucosade with electrolytes in them. They helped replenish what I'd lost from not eating or drinking properly for a few days.

Healing vibes lovely girl!

I think that itch is a good sign. I had that too and all my pain was gone by a week post op I think. By day 4 things were really starting to feel better. You are doing great! Sorry to hear about the sore throat. They gave me the option of IV sedation over general which I gladly did so no tube for me.

Let's hope indeed that the itching means healing.

Glad to hear things seem to be improving though. How is that bottom falling out feeling? Do you still have it? Any issues with control down there?
