day 10 now - my sphincter is well and truly paralyzed. It sounds so odd I know, and fellow men you will understand but when you pee when your getting the last drips out you subconsciously clench your bum to get the last bits out? well I can no longer do that!

BM this morning wasn't actually that bad!! pain 4/10. Back to work today too so luckily my body wanted to go to the loo before heading out (I was dreading using the loo at work). I felt quite good about it all but at 1pm I started getting big fissure pains so they sent me home. I guess it's still progress but I'm happy with the consistency of my stools this morning and would like to keep it up.

Wow, Fissurefrustration, I really feel for you. I hope you will get through this difficult time and start to feel much better very soon. A paralyzed sphincter sounds scary - I hope you are doing OK with it. Is it numb?
Thinking of you...........
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

It's pretty scary, I cant clench my bum! I was expecting it to be honest but not to this extent! it's far from numb, it's sooo painful even to touch. My CRS said he injected "around the fissure" which I found odd so I think it's the injection sites that are so sore. I really don't know - My boss wants more information but I can't tell her as I don't know myself!!!

So glad to hear of some progress. I know what you mean about it being weird to be paralyzed. They actually aren't supposed to be injecting the external sphincter but the botox does spread and the more they use, the more it spreads. I wonder how much they injected. Does take a while to get used to. Your soreness could be the muscles adapting. I get this when I get botox. It sorts itself out in time as things rebalance.

Day 11! two poops today, the first one was slightly sore at a 3/10 but wasn't very big. Now I don't want to exaggerate but second of the day & I have just had the single most amazing poop of my life. (well the best one in the past two years) I was doing the AF pose on the loo (feet on a stool, holding the loo roll holder & the radiator for support to brace) and was making a conscious effort not to clamp down on the stool and it came out so easily!! pain was only a 1 on the scale with just a small twinge. I cried with joy as I was expecting the sheering horrible dagger pain! there was still blood streaked on the stool but I don't really care, that poop almost felt normal.

Thanks MS, I'm having some minor spasms now but I don't mind! That bm was heavenly in comparison to what I've been through recently.

that's because you care Chacha! we all know where each other is coming from on here and it's so lovely to have a community like this. Without the forum I wouldn't know where to turn.

knowing my luck and how these fissures go this time tomorrow I will be in lots of pain but oh well! I'm enjoying this while it lasts

Big hugs :)

Painless poops are still making me happy, after several pain-free months, so I can relate, and celebrate, FF!
Hope it keeps that way! I'm rooting for your recovery!
