I just looked up Fybogel and discovered that its main ingredient is ispaghula. And then I discovered the ispaghula is also known as psyllium. Psyllium is what we in Canada can find in a product called Metamucil, and I have been using this for about 3 years now. Metamucil comes in capsule form too, which is what I take, because I just cannot stomach the horrible, fake-orange-flavoured, bizarrely-textured drink version! You should check to see if Fybogel comes in capsule form too, and if not, you could certainly order psyllium husk capsules online (I actually switched from the Metamucil brand to a no name product about a year ago, because the Metamucil ones are very expensive).

Hope that things improve for you soon.

Day 6. Bowel motion was awful today - so much more painful than yesterday. I feel so disheartened it's almost the end of my week off sick and I'm no better :(

I think you should possibly take another week off. Hopefully by then the Botox will have kicked in and reduced your pain right down.
You could try applying a cold pack or hold a cold flannel to the area to bring the swelling down a bit.
Sorry things don't seem better yet, but you had alot done... And a nasty fissure there... It's going to take a while xxxxxxxxx

Thanks both, I'm my own worst enemy I guess! Today has been the worst day by far - my fissure pain has lasted all day!! Right at 6pm position. So sore and I think it was down to my bm this morning. Roll on day 7.

Before my banding and Botox I was happy in my routine, sure it didn't heal me but it wasn't doing harm. Now I'm afraid to do anything down there. I've used no creams or anything! To be honest I don't think the bands/hemmis have even come off yet!? Not seen any evidence in the loo.

Must keep going and try to keep positive...

FF, I'm sorry things are going so rough for you but bear in mind that often things have to get worse before they get better.
I know what you mean though, it seems the more I do the worse I get. But you have a really good chance of getting some relief, soon.

As for the hemmies/bands, when I have been banded I would see these tiny little black circles in the toilet. We're talking about 3mm in diameter here. I only noticed them because I went looking (gross I know but I am a control freak, and I used a glove;) As for the hemmies, the only thing you will see is some gelatinous blood. That is all they look like afterwards as the mucous membrane that covers them is so thin. If the pressure feeling is gone, they probably fell off.

As for pain, are you able to do warm soaks much? They are the most helpful thing for me.
