I have dibucaine with hydrocortisone, but I don't think it actually works to treat the fissure. I guess the hydrocortisone is for inflammation - not sure if that accounts for much. I just ordered something for fissures (called heal fissures) from the internet (Healing Natural Oils). I've used their heal hemorrhoids and I swear to God it works. At this point, I thought I would give it a shot. You use 2 drops on the fissure and then a drop on the arch of each foot. Sounds a little strange, but apparently it gets absorbed directly into the tissue. I figure I have nothing to lose. If anyone's interested, check out the website - the testimonials were enough to convince me to give it a shot.

Good luck Nancy with the oils - one never knows what can work !!!
I tried about 15 creams though, with no success : (((. Only Nitro and Nifedipine gave me results , but again, for short time : (.
I hope you will get help on your next CRS app !!!!!!!

I hope so too because I don't know how much more of this I can take. I feel like I'm losing it. It's not a good feeling knowing you have no control of a situation. I'm just getting depressed because our family is supposed to head to Florida in April and I don't want to go if I'm feeling like this. Not sure if I can have anything done that will allow me to heal before I go. I'm scared!

Nancy Image, please don't be sad :( !!!! I know how you feel - I seriously thought I would kill myself if I don't find help Image . We all here know exactly what you are going through Image Image Image. We all thought that there is no future or hope and you see - all did find the solution at the end. Even our dear Juney Image who had 2 LIS surgeries finally found her own way of taking control !!!! Don't lose hope Image !!!! And don't put extra pressure on yourself now thinking about the trip! Your health is the most important and if that means postponing the trip - so be it ! I know that it is disheartening and that you probably even feel guilty that you might "ruin" fun for your family , but I am sure that they would rather see you smile than go anywhere in the world !!!!
Something WILL help - we just have to find it Image

Are you having issues at the present time or are you fine now? Thanks for listening to me whine - at least I know I'm not completely crazy or just a big baby about this. If you haven't experienced it, you can never know what it does to you. After the doctor on Thursday - I'm going to let you all know what happened - I'll probably be looking for a little advice.
GOD HELP ME!!

I have seen some information on aloe vera for fissures. I think there was one study of sorts that said it healed about as well as the blood pressure creams. I wish I could remember where I heard that-probably here somewhere.

I take an aloe vera capsule break it open and apply it to the fissure. I think it does help and I use it every day.

That is great that you are friends with ML. She will take care of you and get you to that appointment! Man I wish I had a fissure buddy close by.

Ok guys & gals...I have a few more questions about the creams....
Should I apply the nifedipine more than 2 times a day? I have read many threads that talk about using the nitro 4-5 times a day. I know they are different meds, but just wondering if it is ok.
I know there are a few of you that used both the nitro & nifedipine. Would it make that much of a difference if I switched to the nitro?
I am going to order the natural product, heal fissures, that Nancy was talking about. I figure, what the hell, it can't hurt me! Since it is organic, do you think it would be wise to use it along with my RX creams?
Despite my small setback this weekend, I am going to give the creams another round...

I applied my cream 3 times a day. I had diltiazem but it is pretty much the same as nefedipine. I took three baths a day and applied after each bath.

I think it wouldn't hurt to try the nitro but I don't know about using them together.

I would be careful about ordering things off the internet that make grand claims of healing. But it seems like it has helped Nancy with her fissure but even she still has to see the doctor. But man I would love to be proven wrong!! Seriously! Image

I think the Nitro cream seems to be doing a good job . Doing at least three applications per day with sitz baths before .
Have noticed alot less discomfort after using it about a week or so. But it really takes alot of religous application and it does take more after your body gets used to it.
I suspect my vision is being compromised from it though - definitely noticing blurred vision and irritated eyes after stronger application. So, if anyone else uses the Nitro ask your doc if there are long term use complications . I may have to switch to nefedipine next.

JA,
I completely understand your concern but you have to take into consideration that some heart patients have to take Nitro for life. If that medication can lead to permanent damage of anything wouldn't you think that it would be taken from the market long time ago ? It is used for heart problems for about 30 years, I think! All meds have side effects though, and if it is making you really uncomfortable, why not try another one ? It is enough that you worry about your fissure, any extra anxiety is not productive : (.
All the best !
