GG -- sooo sorry you are dealing with this newish issue. I know it may sound yuck....but what about going in the tub or in a sitz bath - the warm water may help relax everything and the lubrication from the water may ease the effort.

As for the surgeon - I would tell the assistant that you can't wait and would like to show up at the end of the day today for a consult. Sometimes it works to press hard to get what you need.

All best - CB

Thanks Canadabum. I just feel like the worst always seems to happen with me, this is just my luck.

I did try the tub and the sitz bath...it didn't seem to help. Sorry for the tmi, but the bms seem very round and large and I think this is part of the problem, no amount of pushing or trying to relax seems to get them out.

I will phone the surgeon back now and take your suggestion.

I applied a glycerine suppository which will hopefully soften whatever is there, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

It is definitely not TMI...this is a site dedicated to butts, bowel movements and all those wonderful unmentionable ailments we all have. Never concern yourself about TMI.

I'm glad to hear that you will call and try and demand an appointment -- when we feel low and depressed it is hard to be an advocate for yourself-- but that is what we all need to do. As politely as you can tell them that no is not an answer - you must be seen.

If the BM is large and round -- either you need to find a way to break it up and/or some serious amount of lubrication to make the passage as easy as possible. Glycerin and mineral oil is what I would try -- as for breaking it up I hope the surgeon/nurse has some suggestions.

Thanks Canadabum. I've definitely shared a lot of details here ha

I did call and the surgeon is in surgery today. But she will be calling me during a break this afternoon. I did try breaking things up a little with lots of lubrication and a finger cot, but it's next to impossible and very painful, it feels like the inside of my rectum is so so sore. I'm hoping the suppository will help... but i don't know if I'll be able to even try again today unless it's mucho urgent.

Just getting so tired of the pain! I broke down and took half a morphine but I'm drinking a max dose of miralax with it. I should probably have done that from the start it seems, but as usual my system is completely unpredictable. You wouldn't think I would go from liquid diarrhea to needing a full dose of softner and laxative in 24 hours but there you go.

Oh goodness Hun that sounds traumatic but reminds me of my experience when I had to literally put my fingers up there and I know I tore a stitch. I was in agony and didn't know what to do.
All I can say is 3 weeks after that I had my appointment and I was 40% healed.
I guess you need to keep taking the stool softener Hun and maybe eat a bit more. I know it's scary to do but the worst thing I did was to stop eating it sent my bowel nuts.
I really hope your surgeon gives you some help and advice when you see him on Thursday, but I do know it does get better it really does.
Could you try MFs tip with the Himalayan salt as the one time I had it, it was nearly as bad as taking a colonoscopy prep, I'm sure your mum would go get you some.
Big hugs huni and I can't take the pain away but I can understand how devastating it is

Thanks so much mbp, I'm for sure taking lots of miralax now, and my insides are rumbling big time - I'm sure in a couple days I'll have the opposite problem again.

I couldn't speak to the surgeon today - she is in or and can't reach me, so it will the morning. Frustrating, but that's the way it is here - she is much better than most at getting back to me. And an appointment on Thursday is incredibly quick. Most would just have sent me to OR for another doctor to deal with.

The pain right now is quite bad - I think partly because there is stool in there irritating things. I did another sitz bath and very gently tried to go and lots of blood came out...seems like I may have torn something, or maybe it's an internal hem. In any case, I'm trying to just ignore the urge right now and relax...I don't think I can handle the pain of trying again. I will try and put a glycerin suppository in again before bed, hopefully soften things up and go easily in the am.

I keep saying it, but this is so exhausting. Between my ibs and the fissure and the surgery I have not had a break from pain since this all started, and it's just got me to my breaking point. You all have been so helpful and I would be lost without being able to share here

Dear GG, just hang in there. I'm glad to hear the surgeon will be able to see you soon. This pain will end and become a faded memory and you'll get back to your pre fissure life. We are all rooting for you. Just make sure the surgeon understands how much difficulty you've been having and doesn't dismiss your problems.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

Thinking of you GG. Been in similar straits before and it feels impossible. But you have made some progress so sounds like not impacted! The stool dries and gets hard when it has been sitting in there for a while, so hopefully things will start to open up. You are taking so many softeners- and I guess fleet suppository acts as a stimulant ? I deal with a lazy bowel myself. I am sure you haven't torn anything new and your body will settle in. Can you take anti-inflammatories for inflammation and perhaps a heating pad to area?

Thanks guys. I woke up with lots of gas and diarrhea, but there is still lots of solid stool just stuck in the rectum (I know...I tried to remove it manually and wasn't successful, it just hurts too much).

So now it seems as if I've taken enough softner and laxative to give me diarrhea, but what's there will still not come out. I tried the mineral oil enema and glycerin suppository this morning and have had no luck. It's like my bowels don't even work. The muscle will just not expand enough to let anything out besides liquid diarrhea. I thought that the surgery would help with this, but it seems not.

I'm waiting on a call from the surgeons office but honestly I'm just wishing they would send me to the hospital, drug me up, and take it out. It's extremely irritating there and my stomach is cramping with the diarrhea but very little is coming out because of what's in the way. I know once that's gone things will be better, it's just not happening. Two hours in the bathroom this morning and gave up.

I'm done with this. I can't keep straining and aggravating things down there.

Zennia - the glycerine suppository draws water in to the bowel locally so it's good at softening things and stimulating a movement too...but not working for me.
