Hey GG glad your doing so well, trust me I can totally relate to your wish. That's my ideal to just get up go the once then get on with my day. Some of us are not that lucky though.
It's good that your going freely and I'm sure things will firm up soon.
At least the pain from the fissure is improving though

Thanks mbp. My digestive system has just been a complete unpredictable mess these past few months - I never know if I'm gonna have diarrhea or constipation or just pain and gas - but it is always something and never normal.

I'm really hoping the other specialists can at least get me to a little more normal place soon. I'm sure things will also improve as the incision heals post op.

I'm also hoping I can see the colorectal specialist soon - I'm currently covered under my parents insurance but only until my birthday in August...then I'm going to have to be paying for insurance on top of rent and i don't think I'll be able to skimp by with a cheap plan.

Question though - I find now I'm getting most of the pain in the right side, but not on the anus, rather in the muscle area between the anus and butt cheek. It feels really bruised and hurts when I push to go or press on it. It also feels like it's hard inside compared to the other side. Is this normal? I didn't notice it before because it was just swollen and painful all over.

Please take a really good look at private insurance plans before purchasing one. Almost all of them have very unrealistic caps, and it is usually more sensible to pay as you go for what you need. Your parents are probably on a company plan, which is a group plan, and those usually pay for everything under the sun, and if they even have a cap it is often something like $50,000 or $100,000. When you buy a plan on your own however, the monthly premiums are usually astronomical, but the plans don't cover much at all.

Thanks chachacha - that's great advice. My mom is pretty good at this stuff, I'm lucky to have her help. When I continue at school I will have the option of using the university's health care plan, and since I'm postgraduate it is the same as the employee plan- but that won't be until September.

GG, The specialist told me that a formed BM is actually good Physical Therapy for your butt! Easier said then done right?! So many different meds all giving different signals to your system, It will adjust finally, more time,
It will happen..

Thanks mamafizz. Yes trying to get to the formed bm stage without constipation but it is very tricky. Hope things will even out eventually as you say!

Hey GG if you find a magic formula for a nice formed Bristol 3 can you please send it to me lol.
Which side did your surgeon do the cut on...mine was on the left and that side was sore in the area you describe from week 2 till 4 think it's may be due to pulling from stitches or healing perhaps the feeling disappeared after week 4 though.
Glad your feeling a bit better though.
Must admit that although I do moan about the NHS and it can be atrocious I am very lucky to have found a great CRS now.
Good luck GG

Ah ok! Mine was on the right so that makes sense.

And yes I will send it over if I figure it out! Going to try the fibre again gradually. Have you ever tried nornacol? It's a natural plant derived fibre but it's suppooseeed to be easier on the gut but good for constipation or loose stool. It's little packets of granules you put on your tongue then swallow.

Haven't tried it yet but should before I see my gastro as he recommended it

Oh right thanks will have a look at that I'm just sick of trying to find the balance between D and then not going for 4 days it's awful...I never tried before the fissure I just put up with lots and lots of trips to the toilet but that still hurts too much so I'm now getting constipated as I'm using my meds on a regular basis for the first time ever lol.
