Well, I got half my wish. Was surprised to feel the urge to go this morning. Sat down and bam, went like nothing. Excellent!

But then I hopped in the sitz bath...and had to soon hop back to the toilet! Did this about 5 times until it was very soft mushy stool again. Hard to feel clean after.

Good thing is, bms were easier and more natural, and it seems as though I can back off miralax. Bad thing is I may be back to the pattern of daily diarrhea I had before.

Oh well, I'd rather be going, and easily, than not. Maybe slowing the miralax will bring things to normal.

Sorry to hear that your stomach is still not settled GG. Have you considered trying probiotics? I've been having a disturbed stomach lately, probably from antibiotics I took a month ago and probiotics have helped me immensely in making my stomach more regular. The brand I use is Bio K (both the drinks and capsules) which I believe is manufactured in Canada. The products aren't cheap but they really help. I also drink a probiotic called Good Belly which I think is only sold in the US.

Thanks patience and healing. Yes I take a daily probiotic called tuzen, and another after taking any antibiotics. Doesn't seem to do much for me. Since November diarrhea like this has been the norm, so I guess that's just what I'm dealing with now.

Trying a drug now that is supposed to help with stomach emptying, and although I don't feel 100% (still having some stomach pain) i think I do have less upper abdominal pain.

Probiotics are great and have always helped me in the past, but seem to have no effect now.

I'm sorry the probiotics aren't doing much for you. Have you looked into the FODMAP diet? My husband had bad IBS with regular diarrhea but once he got on the diet for a few weeks he was much better. Now he's able to eat many of the restricted foods as well in limited amounts. Onions, lentils, gluten and lactose are the biggest triggers for him.

Yes - thanks for the tip! The FODMAP diet helped me lots. I cut out onions, garlic, and fructose (apples and lots of other fruit especially) as well as gluten and lactose and saw big improvements. I may try and up my meat and protein intake. Before I got the fissure I probably ate about 50% protein in my diet, which wasn't hard considering the limitations of the FODMAP diet.

I have an appointment with the gastro on Tuesday. Hoping it will help. Cutting out miralax has formed things up a little, but I still go lots in the am (like 5-6 consecutive bms) and am having pain still. This has always been my problem - although the pain is more intense than usual.

In any case, I'm trying to stay active - finally can since the surgery has stopped the spasms - and eat more. I'm hoping my body will adjust. And although it's inconvenient to go so much, at least it is all in the am - and I'd rather go than not!

Well today has not been the best.

On the side of my incision, on the muscle area between the anus and the buttcheek, I have a very very bruised feeling. When I press on it, it feels like a hard lump. Does anyone know, is this scarring/healing or signs of something worse? I'm worried about a fistula but have no idea what to look out for. I am being much more active so I'm wondering if it's just aggravated. I also have periodic bleeding still - very slight.

I also today received a message from my gastros office saying that "there's nothing else he can do for me and that my appointment on Tuesday is cancelled". This appointment was a follow up to see if the amytriptyline was working, we set it three months ago. I tried calling them back about 15 times and they are not answering, and are replying to my messages.

I phoned my surgeons office to see if they had heard what's going on (they are coworkers) and her assistant was shocked, he said he was talking to the gastros office earlier in the week and they had mentioned my upcoming appointment.

I'm really upset. I was holding out until this appointment hoping I would get some advice and relief from the stomach pain. I also am on several medications at this point and don't know what I need to be taking.

I think I'm going to have to put in a complaint now, this has gone too far and I'm feeling really disprespected.

Just keep an eye on it and watch for any signs of redness. It could be scar tissue which tends to be hard before it softens up.

The gastro sounds like a terribly inconsiderate doctor. Is it difficult to get referred to a different specialist?

I tried getting a referral to another gastro, and was told that I could not as I have had many tests done already, so any referral is considered a "second opinion". Hoping something will change. But even if I can get a referral I will likely have to wait months to see someone when I need advice now on medication. He booked this follow up to review my medication and make sure it's working.

Have a feeling you may be able to start weaning your self off the meds as the stress and nervous system settles down you may not need anymore!! I would often get stress induced D. As I relaxed it subsided. Hopefully you won't need a follow up!!!

I agree that it's probably scar tissue but keep an eye out for redness and heat. At least you have an appointment on Monday so can get it checked then. It good to hear your being much more active that's great progress Hun.
Your GI sounds like a very unprofessional person and I agree you should complain. Be careful weaning off the amytriptyline as it can cause bad stomach ache if not done properly.
