Toot,
I like your skirt!! Glad you are feeling a bit better. Do you think you have a virus? Those kids recover quickly, don't they???
Darren,
How are you doing today? Did you have a bm? Could you try using Movicol which I think is over the counter??

well thats me just had my 1st enama, it was what the nurse called a micro enama, and so far i feel nothing Image . she has also got my gp to give me a script for movicol, i have to take 4 aday then either reduce or take more, but no more that 8 aday. what sort of time scale should i expect this movicol to work, i know every1 is different but i ask just a rough scale, i have got 2 week supply. i know some people on here have had this so hoping then ca help me out,
ps as yet i still have not had a bm nor do i feel like one Image , and as of yet still have no feeling of wanting to go with this micro enama either. Image so very confused by it all.

Dazzy,
I think the Movicol will help you. I noticed a big change the second day after I took it. I used to take mine in the am. Now I take mine in divided doses--once in the mid aft and once at bedtime. This seems to work best for me although my Mayo GI doc told me to take it in the am. I know Tab takes hers at night. I think everyone is different as to the amount they need. My GI doc suggested I try one sachet for a week to see how that works. Good luck and I hope it helps you like it has helped me. You've suffered enough!!
I cannot wait for Grumpster to arrive in Scotland and hopefully see some pictures of your country!!

Wow-I can't believe you haven't had a bm yet after the enema! I guess when she says micro she means a small amount of the fluid. Maybe you need a macro enema. Another thing that has helped me is to use glycerin suppositories. They soften up the poop a bit and the sensation triggers the feeling of needing to go.

The movicol can take a few days to kick in since it isn't a stimulant laxative. It will just draw more water into the stool so when you do go it is a lot easier. Does the nurse come by every day?

Glad you tolerated your first enema just fine! Image Sorry it didn't work though. That stinks.

What a great idea-to set up a bebo page for us to see where Grumpster has been! This is going to be fun!

Excellent news Dazzy at least some magic movicol !! Image
A dosage like 4 sachets a day will help Dazzy – usually a higher dose is given for faecal impaction then once you get flowing you should be able to reduce down no probs !
I take one sachet , Cheryl takes just under two so it does vary from individual, I too found the movicol worked that very next day but it can take a couple of days to work so don’t despair OK !
I assumed that an enema would clear the doo there and then too Image
I think Grumpster is going to have fun on his holidays !

Dazzy,
I'll second what Toot says in two respects--GREAT idea to set up a bebo page and also her suppository idea is a great one. My mother uses those frequently and swears by them. She's 83. Good luck with everything. Now you have a goal to get well so you can go out and about with Grumpster!! I like your new avatar. Is that in your town?

Can the reason be that you take painkillers or something? That you cannot feel your butt = feel the need to go...

Good thought, Corsi! Image Most pain killers constipate me. That is why I try to not take them!!
