Thanks. The shooting pains are less today. It's weird but doesn't seem to be any discharge or anything.
I take citracel every night but bought some benefibre to switch. I have not had a large BM in a few days and cut back a little on the fiber intake but seems more people have better luck with Benefibre in terms of not having huge BM's. This seems to be the pattern. I get a little better and then have a huge BM again.

So I have been eating a lot of salads and okra and stayed away from breads and seems my BM's are very soft. I am hoping this will help. Also I am in the process of finding all the ingredients for the Fissulyna "cream"...should I go to a herbal food type store?

Also, are most fissures in the same place in the rectum? Mine is totally on the inside, although doesn't feel too far up in there. Just wondering...

My quick "[anal]ysis" (and guess) would be no, they are not all in the same place, but should be somewhere within and around the anus, rather than a bit further in, or they'd be called "rectal" fissures rather than anal. They can be anywhere "around" the anus (say, 6 o'clock vs 12 o'clock). Mine could be seen just by "parting my cheeks" without probing.

I guess mine would be at 12 o'clock. I wonder if that matters on healing...So Kim, can you still see yours now that is has healed?

As far as I know, there is no visual evidence of my old AF anymore. Position could make a difference in the rate of healing and probably does, to some degree.
Everyone has their own ways of dealing with and treating their AF; I was never terribly concerned with seeing mine although I was a bit curious.

Yeah when I first came home from the first dr. visit with proctofoam I was scared to death to go near the area! The ER doc said "eat only sofr foods and take stool softners, along with the proctofoam and you'll be good as new in 5-7 days." HA!

That sounds just like me! I was given the proctofoam and told that would just fix me right up! This was my GP, who ad commented on the fissure but proceeded to treat me for hemorrhoids.... Image

And I hated that stuff anyway, burned like crazy Image
It's amazing doctors can be that clueless. But then again it was my CRS who told me I should be healed in two weeks after my surgery!
