I don't have a laptop, but want/need to have something if we return to Florida this Feb. Woud you recommend an ipad or laptop for getting e-mail? My son uses a laptop solely. He's a pharmacist, and I'm proud of him! :D

I have a small, thing sony laptop and love it. If you can wait a couple of months, I would get a touch enabled windows 8 device.

Use your cotton balls with Balneol, instead of TP. That way you will be cleaned up b/4 getting in the tub. If you don't want to use Balneol, use vaseline.

I've been using the Balneol; but only after getting out of the tub. I may try to use it before getting in the tub also. I don't think I have the cottonballs. May get my wife to pick some up when she goes out.
Sitting on light heat, no real pain. Just some discomfort in the area.

Use makeup remover pads if your wife has any of those. The idea is to use the Balneol b/4 going in the tub. Then you won't have that icky residue in the tub which is probably not very hygenic!
Question--if you always healed up your fissures in the past, why did you choose such a drastic measure as LIS and 2 fissurectomies which would be a LOT for any butt?!

Just to clarify, I didn't really heal them. My fissures would start to heal until they got to the point where they would no not hurt a lot and then they would rip open again. So, I never really healed them. I think true healing takes a couple of months and then its a year or 2 before its ever as strong again.
This re-ripping would continue over and over again. The CRS took a look with the scopes and said that I had excessive scar tissue built up all over the area. He thought that due to all the scar tissue, it would be difficult to heal. Then, there was the issue of the sphincter muscle being too tight and strong. I read that all the contracting works out the muscle and makes it ever tighter. This cuts off the blood flow which slows healing. From what I understand, it also increases the tension which makes it harder to easily pass large waste without new irritation, straining, and cuts.
So, after trying with the medicine and re-ripping again, I decided that I might have a better chance of healing if the tension in the area was lowered due to LIS AND the CRS cut out the scar tissue. I actually didn't know that I had 2 fissures until I woke up from the surgery. Maybe I made a new fissure in the weeks before the surgery.
So, basically, I did this because the CRS took a look with the scopes and felt that based on what he saw, it was the best option. Basically, at the office visit, he just took a look right there, which hurt a bit - but I didn't care b/c I had been suffering too much. He gave me some more time to try to heal it using the medication. Any my efforts with using the medications were resulting in a pattern of weeks of healing followed up by new rips. But, when I ripped it open again, I had had about enough. '
I figured that the long I prolonged this, the more scar tissue would build up. I figured that the sooner I got this surgery, the sooner I could start trying to heal from the surgery, which I am hoping is the last time.

You've probably been posting about your situation for quite awhile. Thanks for clarifying, and I can fully understand why you made the decision to have the surgery. Best wishes for continued healing!

If I may Cheryl, I'd love to give my 2 cents on this topic :D Apple is coming out with an IPad mini (Rumored release for Nov 2) that would be perfect for email, games, books and other useful apps. I'm guessing they'll be priced around $299 and up. If you aren't an Apple fan, the Kindle fire is also another option for what you're looking for it you want something you can stick in your purse Image
Hope you don't mind me chiming in :)

12AM midnight, early morning of 1 week post-op
* Stayed off the pain meds most of the day.
* Same old burn after BM. Was a little worse b/c I wasn't taking the meds.
* watched some videos of LIS and fissure removal (the ones with links posted here on this forum). It was interesting to watch. It didn't bother me. However, I think watching this makes it hurt more down there. :(
* decided to get out of the house for the first time. I rode to waffle house (my wife drove). I am still too irritated to sit without discomfort, so I brought a sofa cushion into waffle house, took some pain med before we left, and I used a corn bag heating pad during the ride. I ate grits, omelet, waffle, toast, OJ, coffee. It wasn't bad; however, sitting and riding in a car still are a bit uncomfortable.
