Re: Diary of pain

Thanks for the good thoughts!
- no Nitro or Diltiazem, not available in Romania, although I imagine there are some equivalents. My doctor just asked if I used any ointments that are available in the pharmacy, I answered: sporadically. So he didn't insist on those, just put me on a herbal ointments that they prepare themselves in this private clinic specialized on rectal problems. I love the ointment, it's very cooling. What I do believe made a huge difference was Manuka Honey. Read through the log and see how bad I was before and after.
- I eat whatever bread comes to hand, but since I only eat fruits and vegetables, my stool stays soft even after 3-4 days. You can see it's mainly Bristol 5-6
- I was always like that, BM at 2-3 days. Now I hold back 1-2 day more, it's really not that bad, I never used to get a big urge to go. The mental reason is not to have pain everyday and give some time for scaring. It works for me I believe, you can see I healed quite faster than others here, considering I was one of the severe cases here (I think). And yes, stool is still soft 4-6. I do drink lots of water and take paraffin oil, maybe that's why
- when I took Imodium I had a severe diarrhea, like 7+, 4 times in 2 hours. It was necessary and yes, I was afraid of constipation, luckily it didn't happen
- yes, I was way too focused, but now that I'm doing much better, focus has also shifted. Just need to be careful not to tear again
- yes, I read a lot on the board and this whole routine I made myself is actually a puzzle of others' experiences. I just put together what I felt was working for me
- yes, CRS follow-up every 2 weeks
Thanks again

Screwed up, had to drive for about 30 min after BM, so I got spasm again after a long time. Stopped easily with a hot bath.

Annoying that I still need to lay down for hours after each BM. Stagnating, no progress since last check-up week and a half ago. Still on veggies mostly, even minor quantities of meat produced Bristol 4. Back on 5-6 now.

Date: May 25th 12PM
Days since last BM: 3
Bristol: 4-5
Swelling: some
Blood: no
BM pain: 2-3
post BM pain: 3-4
spasm: yes, back again, moderate but needed some baths
Hours in bed: whole night, but woke up 8AM with contractions
Pain next day: 2-3
It is frustrating that same diet and stool consistency can produce so different results. Pain is far more bearable than it used to be, but still annoying.

Checkup May 27

Postby bgd » 28 May 2013, 06:29

No significant improvement since last check-up 2 weeks ago, when progress was so remarkable in the previous 2 weeks (reduction from 1.5cm to less than 1 cm). Cauterization scheduled for next week to open a 2mm folded scar.

Date: May 28th 8PM
Days since last BM: 3
Bristol: 4-5
Swelling: some
Blood: no
BM pain: 2-3
post BM pain: 3-4
spasm: mild
Hours in bed: whole night, woke up couple of times with contractions
Pain next day: 3-5, had serious problems standing. Strangely sitting on a side is more or less OK
Had to strain and payed the price. Setting back big time. Reintroducing linseed to soften stool from 4-5 to 5-6. Shouldn't irritate now that the fissure not so raw anymore.

Now I wish I had smaller and more frequent stools, but 2 days post BM I still have no urge to go. Eating lots of apples, pears and dry prunes. Food is still mainly vegetarian with just small pieces of meat. Trying to eat mostly soups and vegetable/meat stews, leaving most of the meat on the plate. Should poop like crazy.

Major set back

Postby bgd » 10 Jun 2013, 08:01

Date: May 31th 8PM
Days since last BM: 3
Bristol: 4-5
Swelling: yes
Blood: no
BM pain: 2-3
post BM pain: 6-7
spasm: strong
Hours in bed: whole night, woke up couple of times with contractions
Pain next day: 3-5, had serious problems standing. Strangely sitting on a side is more or less OK
Serious set back, spasm like in the early days. Stool is 4, but not self running. I would be better of with very soft stools like 5-6 as I noticed it doesn't irritate anymore, since fissure is more or less scarred.
