Thanks Lecia -
what do you guys think about food today? My Dr gave me no restrictions except no food or water after midnight - have to wake up at 4am to clean out the pipes anyway. My wife says eat normal since it is going out anyway and I need strength. I agree that I need strength but not sure. Keep in mind the fissure is not really painful right now so that shouldn t be a factor - especially with all the Miller's I've been eating!
So far have had some oatmeal with fiber - was thinking a slice of pizza for lunch and not sure about dinner. any suggestions?
20 hrs and counting.....

Maybe a stir fry with veggies and your choice of protein?
Do they want you on a restricted diet after the surgery?
If they didn't give any pre-op diet restrictions I think eating what you normally but not more or less would be the best.
I am sure others will be on to answer soon since I haven't had this surgery.
Are you having your surgery on a Saturday? (tomorrow)

Fletch,
I had no diet restrictions before my surgery. However, I had to "clean out my pipes" before a couple of tests that I have had and I would say eat but be aware that cleaning them out can mean going alot. I mean the more that goes in the more that goes out. It can cause u to get pretty raw. I recommend that you apply vasoline before, or if their isn't time, after each bm so it can help protect before the next.

Your bms will probably be very watery, at least mine were.
Good Luck and I wish you the best for your surgery!Image

Yep tomorrow is the big day - I'll give you a full report when I'm up and moving (assuming I survive!)
Good idea with the vasoline - only cleaned the pipes once before and it was not pleasant.
No other diet restirctions but I think I'll be careful tonight - maybe a salad and pasta or something.

I had to be on a clear liquid diet the day before my surgery and then no food or water after midnight.
So it might be prudent to eat Jello or won-ton soup (without the bits). Eat as light as possible, anyway.
Can't wait to read your post-op report.
GOOD LUCK, BUDDY!!!!

Well this is it - just cleaned the pipes (not fun but not awful) and am wasting time before I leave in an hour.
Assuming all goes well I'll try to post something by tomorrow to let you all know how I'm doing and what happened.
Hope this helps someone because I am as freaked out as anyone about this surgery - thank you all for your posts leading up to this day. Even though I am scared it is so much better knowing there are others out there with the same issues, did the same procedure - survived and even were glad they did it. I hope I am one of those people!
Peace to all!

You'll be "one of those who survived" no doubt. Hopefully, you'll have a nice, smooth recovery!

Hi all - got back hr ago. Survived! In some pain but not brutal - on 2 percs.
Dr did the LIS, fissurectomy, anoplasty and a hemerhoidectomy!
Will write all the details tomorrow - as you all said the anticipation was worse than the reality - I am so thankful!
Thanks to all - I'll give you the full story soon!!
