Hi Mike

I hope you are doing better. I had a partial haemmorhoidectomy and experienced the same pain as you after the surgery. It's the anaesthetic that slows your body down and makes you constipated as well as the pain killers. I had to take a herbal laxative after 5days of agony and no BM. The herbal laxative is called senakot and worked well.

I found the nurses unhelpful when I rung them although they were patient i don't think they understood the pain I was in.

Really hope you have a speedy recovery

Hi Mike,

You joined the club of ' a hemorrhoidectomy doesn't hurt'. It does. The worst pain I have ever had, beats having a baby hands down, and followed by days of constipation from the anesthesia is the icing on the bloody cake. :groan:

Hope you're starting the road to recovery and will be 100% back to normal soon.

Welcome to the Forum, too!

Hi All,

I hope all is well with everyone. I had my surgery a week ago last Friday and finally, I feel like I have turned the corner. Still some pain after BM, but not as severe and no longer constipated(but I am making sure that I eat lots of fibre) and of course, still eating less food than I did before the surgery, but needed to lose wait anyway. Unfortunately, I put my back out(sciatica) a couple of days ago, so now taking pain killers for my back and not just my butt.

I had 3 hemorrhoids banded and a sphincterotomy and I assume the butt pain I am experiencing is from the cut sphincter and not my fissure.

I do hope that this continues to get better and am truly thankful for all of you on here who have helped me through the tough time following surgery

This is great news Mike. I'm so glad to hear it. I hope that things just keep getting better each day (and that your back feels better soon).

Hi all,

Just a brief update. I had my surgery on Feb. 20th and though still using stool softeners and eating lots of fibre, no more pain during or following BM. If you just had surgery and are reading this, there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. A big thank you to everyone on this site, who talked me through this.

Hi,

Follow up is on Friday and I feel like all is going well. My Chiropractor says my sciatica is probably related to my adjusting to the pain in my butt after surgery, but no butt pain now, just can't sleep because of sore back. I can't wait to experience my first pain free and pain killer free day....sigh.

I know my back will eventually get better, even though it seems like it won't, so all is okay.

Thank you for your good wishes.

I am also having terrible back pain from sitting on one cheek and shuffling around. Oh how everything is related. Good luck at your follow up appointment.

Re: Just had surgery

Hi All,

I haven't been back here for a while, had my surgery Mid February and I thought all was well. To make a long story short, 2 days ago, for no reason(I have been faithful to my Metamucil and daily salad) had a hard BM and I believe I have another fissure. The Doc assured me that after the surgery it would be rare to get another fissure. I am hoping it is different this time and heals in a few days on it's own. Any suggestions as to what I should be doing, has this happened to anyone else.

Thanks,
Mike
