Guess I need to give it time and see.
Nitro never gave me instant relieve, rather reduced the pain somewhat. Sometimes its like I cant feel a difference. Guess it depends on the person...
I still have some tingling pricking going on now, not painfull, just annoying, but I choose to assume its just the healing process LOL :D
So week 4, was the week with the greatest improvement for you?

Beginning of week 4... so 28 days. You have another week to go! If you've not left your fissure for a long time like a lot of people seem to do, then it is highly likely to heal as mine has. :)
Nitro did nothing for me in the first couple of weeks. You will find you can completely stop the symptoms with it soon.

My fissure is 'only' nearly 6 weeks old, so I have the odds with me. Beginning of week 4 is 22 days. Hopefully I will follow your footsteps soon.

Did you put up with pain for 2 weeks before you had it looked at?

Day 21 on nitro.
Did something yesterday, I never would have thought I would do.... I shaved my ass LOL. It was just so troublesome to get the nitro to where it should go, instead of getting stuck in hair.
Besides that, I decided to make a little change. Im going to replace nitro with diltiazem after BM. Then my schedule looks like this:
15 min before BM: 1 cm nitro
30 min efter BM: diltiazem
4 hours after BM: diltiazem (only if needed)
Evening: 2,5 cm nitro
Before the change, I used 1,5 cm nitro after BM.
I am going to try this, because nitro seems to cause more burning than diltiazem. Hopefully the diltiazem works just as well as nitro, just with less burning. Time will tell!
Had a very loose BM this morning, nearly painfree, and have only gotten minor burning, and pricking since. Now, heal up you stupid fissure!!!

Lol! This is actually something I thought about doing. A Nitro tipped finger is a hazardous concept for a hairy arsed male!!
I like the idea of your plan JHH. I came up with a plan and it made me feel I was more in control, which I am convinced helped me to heal.
I'm a tiny bit sore today, but I strayed from the fish diet and had beef yesterday. This resulted in a bigger BM and it burned a little afterwards. Also felt a bit spiky on the way out! I still think I need to be VERY careful.

Great minds think alike ;-)
I had a little accident yesterday you see. Before BM, I was applying the nitro, and it didnt feel right. Like you guessed, the 1cm nitro was stuck in hair, and I was shoving a dry finger up my a$$. Never again!
Ohhh, you definitly gotta watch out mate, give it time to heal. I read somewhere I can take a year to gain 80% of the strength back. I plan on beeing very carefull for a loooong time after I heal.

On the plus side you could have styled your butt hair any way you wanted Image
Are you sure that's with regards to the fissure healing? Only reason I ask is the stats are the same for LIS recovery...

Sorry, it seems to be two year for 80%
From:
http://www.haemorrhoids.ca/anal_fissure.php
Treatment of fissure is often prolonged and it is important to heal it completely or it comes back. Even after it is healed the tissue takes time to regain its strength (three months for 40% and two years for 80% of previous strength) so care must be taken to avoid constipation or straining for a long time after healing.
When you had LIS, I guess its the same. The difference is just you heal quickly again if you retear.
