Dazzy,
I am not familiar with any of the meds you listed. When Tabby gets feeling better, she might be able to give you good guidance as your systems over there are very different from ours over here. Try not to get discouraged. You have not yet exhausted all possibilites. Just haven't found the right solution at this point in time for yourself. Sorry for your pain.

CEFALEXIN -http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100000487.html
METRONIDAZOLE = Flagyl antibitoics
Both work to fight infection.
CO-CODAMOL = disaster waiting to happen – WTF !!!! Stupid doctors Image
Val made a good point of using paracemetol and ibuprofen but I think you said ibuprofen isnt so good on your tummy ?? I never understood the concept of using the two together but now I do ibuprofen fights pain the paracemtol will reduce swelling and inflammation.
Dazzy I am sorry buddy our system sucks sometimes Image
2 fissures :( oh Dazzy – it sure seems that the action they are taking is that of infection , abscess who knows but the antibiotic should start to make things feel a whole lot better in a few days at least it will take away that pounding throbbing feeling but of course you still have 2 fissures to deal with Image
God I wish they had admitted you ...
I say you phone your GP in the morning and ask for some different pain relief that will not cause constipation !
I am using voltarol for pain and parcetomol seems to be a good combo !
Maybe you can ask for some tramodol ?
Hugs to you Dazzy Image

Dazzy – Just saw an ad on tv for voltarol available without prescription !!
Also the antibiotics may cause loose stools you need some probiotic drinks/supplements it will help keep your tummy in balance – I use acidophilus
I would think that health shop in your town should stock it Image

I have used both of the antibiotics and they do help. I am not familiar with the pain medicine. Can you get some movicol? Maybe eat a prune if you get constipated?

Tabby is right about the probiotics like acidophilis. I would stay on in after the meds because it can help regulate your bowels some too.

Did the doctor want you to come back and be rechecked? Was he at least more understanding of your pain? The metronidazole is supposed to help with anal pain too so hopefully once you get this stuff on board you will start to feel better.

Just do everything you can to get your bowels soft. Try not to despair. Image

The important thing right now is to get your diet right, take those baths, and do what the doctor says do. You WILL get through this, but prepare yourself for a long haul, weeks and maybe longer. If you don;t have to work...LIE around and be still as much as possible. use that nefedipine before your BM and 3- 4 times a day.
Butt problems are NOT forever!

Dazzy, is it possible for you to get a referral to a private colorectal surgeon? It will cost about Ј120, but he will at least give you a proper diagnosis and proper medication. Then you could go back on the NHS for any treatment.
Take care :thinkofyou:
