Wounded how are you? Wish we could meet in real life. I think we could both use a hand to hold. Hoping you are having some good days, or even some good moments in the day. In the darkest times that's all we may get. Hoping to hear good things from you soon.

Been going through a pretty good period. Always seems when things are going good and the pain is under control I get real busy with my life and don't post very much. But then during a bad period I turn to this board so much for the help, knowledge and encouragement from all the great people here who suffer as I do. Just wanted to say thank you for the help getting through the bad times and I am often wondering how everyone is doing even though I am not writing a lot. I am waiting for my December 5th appointment to get all my questions answered about the flap surgery so I can make a final decision. It is easy to think I may not need it when I am doing good, but so far it has never failed that one BM can put me right back at the starting gate. So we will see.

Thank you msimon! Well, I had some good news at the CRS appointment today. Nothing has really changed but he feels that I just need a 2nd LIS, that not enough was cut the first time. He said I have a very thick sphincter and although it is always a judgement call when the doctor is in there and it is good to go conservative the first time, I needed a little more cut. He said he has been doing this for a very long time, and he can tell by looking in his patients eyes how they are doing and where they are at and how much they are suffering from these and when they have had enough. I thought that was a sensitive thing to say. He said he will also freshen up the edges of the fissures when he does the LIS. So... first we are going to do a colonoscopy on January 17 because of my family history of colon CA and an EUA - exam under anesthetic - just to make sure nothing else has to be done. If nothing else needs to be done we will go ahead and schedule the 2nd LIS. He said it is best to do as little as possible and that he knows the outcomes I want and will obtain those for me. So overall I am feeling pretty hopeful. He thinks my stenosis is manageable after my fissures heal. Love those words "after my fissures heal"!!!

That is wonderful WS! I'm so glad to hear that you found a caring and confident Doctor. How long ago did you have your first LIS? How many fissures do you have? You must be so relieved!

Yes, I am feeling very relieved! It is such a good thing to have gotten a second and third opinion. The second doctor told me I had to have an advancement flap and right away. That is why I thought the flap was going to be my next step and only choice. So no I am glad I put it off this long. Anyway, I had my LIS a year ago last April so about 20 months ago. I have two fissures, one posterior and one anterior. I am feeling like this 2nd LIS will work, at least that is how I am going to keep my mind set.
