I'm sure you will go soon Hun, you have hardly eaten so don't expect too much to come out.
It's good your D seems to have stopped that will help the swelling and tightness to ease off a bit I'm sure. You could give the colodial silver a go as it really helps inflammation and doesn't sting t all....may help a bit.
You may not feel like you have seen much improvement but I'm sure things will get much better from here. It's not great when our bodies don't always co operate with us.

It must be very frightening to eat, because you'd clearly then have to poop it out. And knowing that if you put food in and can't get it out, would be terrifying, but if you don't eat enough to produce a solid movement, and don't eat enough to let your bowel start to work again properly, you may be slowing down your recovery and maybe even making things worse.

When you call the surgeon's office, they should probably be made aware of the fact that you're not eating much, so that they can take that into consideration when they're providing you with assistance.

Good luck!

Thanks chachacha - I did tell them that. The super helpful nurse said just take a bit of stool softener every night, and drink as much as I can. He said even if I don't go for the next 4 or 5 days it would be ok, as long as I'm doing the above. He said not to take the stimulant laxative as the more rest the area has the better. I'm hoping that my ibs won't get too bad without going, my stomach definitely feels better after passing oodles of gas this morning.

I'm hoping I can just get through to the point where I start to see improvement.

Again, thanks for being so helpful and patient everyone. I really hope soon I will not be posting everyday.

GG Even though you may not be noticing it yet, you are healing.. remember with these things its easier to measure weekly or monthly improvement versus daily and your barely a week out yet.. it will happen. Nothing stays the same!! You got this. !

yes its difficult to pass gas and i feel sore after passing gas really.
i have once a day bm post op. i think you have to eat a little to bulk your stool. i think due to stool softener or laxatives and you dont have enough food it goes out as diarrhea. its true you really have to find the balance of fiber in your diet.
my diet consist of natural fibres only from vegetable and fruit and over doing can cause impaction or constipation. a lot of water as you eat. at 2 weeks post op i find it diffucult to walk too.

Thanks Paine. Unfortunately my ibs just can't deal with fibre. I've been on a low fibre diet for a long time because it really helps my symptoms. I hadn't taken the stool softner at all when I had the diarrhea, it may have been a reaction to the anesthetic. I'm taking the stool softner as a precaution, although I'm eating just a little, it's not moving quickly through my system because of the pain meds, so the stool softner should just help keep it from drying up too much. I'm hoping it will work out.

Paine - does your sphincter feel any looser at all? I can't imagine having a solid bm at all with how tight it is down there and it doesn't seem to be letting up.

hi gg. when my swelling went down a bit it felt looser only on the side where the cut was made. you will feel that when you pass gas it has a different sound lol.
i have not yet had a solid bm since the op. i take 400mg magnesium each night to have soft stool and try to eat a little each day.
im dreading that solid bm. dont want that! though soft stool is harder to clean and irritates the anus alot.

Thanks mpb. Thanks for the info Paine!

I'm getting so fed up and nervous. Still have not had a bm, just gas. The gas is very painful, stabbing pain even to just pass a little and is not at all effortless. I'm doing the sitz baths, ice, meds, etc but there has been no change. I just feel like giving up, I really needed to catch a break and this has just been awful. And despite the pain I wish I could just have a bm as it would be one less thing to worry about.

Still slight bleeding, never a lot.

So sorry you are still in so much pain GG. Did the nurse say it's ok to go this long without a BM? Is there anything they can do in the clinic (like an enema) that might help you along?
