Hi mojo, I didn't use Recto for the first few weeks after my LIS, but I've since had several minor spasms and the Recto does obviously help with that, by stimulating blood flow to the area. I also continue to re-open my Fissure it seems, so use it on these ocassions too.

Whether you should still be getting spasms and sharp Fissure pain 6-7 weeks after an LIS is a question I'll be putting to my CRS next week, as unfortunately I've had both again today...

Oh no Mr F I'm so sorry. Can't imagine anything worse than the op being unsuccessful.

Chin up.

I still use it Hun as does Jim some of us aren't lucky enough for the spasms to stop entirely as they never cut the muscle through because this would lead to incontinence. So the muscle can still spasms if the intact part is strong enough.
I'm sure you won't as you haven't had any yet but doesn't hurt to keep hold of the cream.
To reassure you though it's not as painful as a full on spasm...I haven't been rolling on the floor sobbing lol.
Mr F I still get spasms and my fissure is healed. The area is sensitive and gets super irritated by my loose BMs hence the pain spasm cycle starts.
I can't have another LIS as my fissure is healed and it wouldn't be best practice to give me another one.

As MPB said I still use it as needed. I still get the spasm as well even though my fissure has healed. Also I have ext hemmys which dont help . If I have a BM its going to irritate the area. The softer the less irratation. Also have to becareful of what I eat. Sugars process foods fast foods can and will cause trouble for me.All I have to do is eat things I shouldnt and mycolon wil let me know about it. I just ate 2 pecan cookies and 5 min later I felt my colons reaction. Its not just about BM its also about what I eat. Fortunatly the reaction was less then 2 minutes and all is good . No pain No BM today. Did use lidocaineand some vasaline this am as a protectant for the skin. Been quite comfy so far today except for the brief episode. I will take it

So its been a tough week. Pretty sure I re-opened my fissure about a week ago and went through a few pretty horrible days, in pain all day long, unable to find a comfortable position/stance to pass the hours and not even any respite when I went to sleep (or tried!). This really had me as down in the dumps as I've been, since all this started.

But a little light at the end of the tunnel and things have picked up a bit the last couple of days, so maybe that's thanks to the reduced pressure of the IS post-LIS allowing quicker healing? I'm still a long way from where I want to be, and where I'd hoped to be as I approach the 7 week mark (still only able to walk short distances at a snails pace, anything quicker and the burning and pulling comes on) but at least the pain is only temporary again now.

I'm due to see my CRS for the first time post-op tomorrow, so finally I'll have a clearer picture (hopefully!) of what's going on down there...just hope he can give me something positive to hang on to, as really can't stand the thought of more surgery.

Oh Mr F
Really hope tomorrow goes well I'm sure there will have been some healing.
It can be downheartening I know, I had a bad day yesterday burning n sore all day but back to normal again this morning.
I really think that it's down to secondary issues that either caused the original fissure or certainly delay the healing. We aren't a simple case of constipation caused a tear so cutting the sphincter and keeping stools fairly soft is all that is needed.
It's really interesting that your pain is aggravated by movement as that has never bothered me. I would ask about your abductor and pelvic floor as that must be having an impact surely
Finger crossed for tomorrow

Mr F your not alone. I still get the burning and pain after BM. Last about 2 hours then subsides. Now I am concerned about urinary function that is causing burning in the rectum after urinating. This is not good. I have appointment with a Uroligist next Thursday. I dont know if its Fissure related or not. I suspect pelvic floor muscle problems but not sure. I have drank almost 40 oz of water this am and urinated twice. All clear but noticeable burning when sitting. Could be a sign of Prostatitis.Could be Bladder issues. Just what I need Good Grief

Mr F I feel for u but how did u manage to retear the fissure do u think? Mine was cauterised by laser and call me a misguided optimist but I got this gut feeling it's sealed up forever. Am I a fool then?

Won't be eating nuts anytime soon but am already able to be less diet obsessed than before 2 wks post op.
