Lars, it will get better, honestly. It's just going to take time, time and more time. If you feel within yourself that there is something "wrong" about your recovery, then it may be worth getting things looked at. Do you feel any better at all, even a tiny bit better, than either before your op, or just afterwards? Its such a slow process, you wouldnt notice your progress on a day to day basis, but if you look back on a weekly basis you should soon see some kind of improvement. One day it will suddenly feel a bit better, then you'll slowly get longer "good" hours.
Dont give up, your low feeling will lift once your pain goes away a little!
Hang in there!
:nevergive:

Lars - I am so sorry that you are still in severe pain :( Image - but yes, I would also like to know if you see any improvement at all regarding the fissure pain ?! Is it absolutely the same as before the surgery ? I agree with Val that it can look like nothing is better if you do not compare week by week . Some people need more time , so don't despair so soon. 19 days is about 2 weeks - there is a lot of swelling still there and your wound is obviously still open because it is bleeding , so of course there is pain :( . I suggest that you find a friend or even take a taxi and go to see your CRS. It will ease your mind which is very important part of healing and also you will make sure that there is nothing unusual going on that would prolong your recovery. It is so very hard to deal with butt pain - it is maddening - we all completely understand you Image . When pain is combined with hopelessness , one really suffers double time Image Image Image. And after such a long period if suffering one just can not believe that healing CAN happen. After this second surgery that I had I really thought that I did myself disservice and that I was worse off doing it and I saw no end to my pain. But it happened and I still can not believe that I survived all of that pain , so 4 weeks I think you will start seeing less pain and once it starts - as Val said , it really speeds up !
It happens than so fast one is tempted to jump "into the life" and forget all about ones butt and stop with all of the regiments - that is why there are so many setbacks Image . Steps are small , but they are there - you see- today you had no bleeding !!!!! Maybe you will have some tomorrow , but than next day not. Than you will have TWO days without bleeding and less pain and so forth, until you have no pain and bleeding for weeks and you will be in total disbelief !!!! Healing WILL happen - the waiting period is dreadful and depressing , especially when one is alone - I completely understand you , dear Lars Image . Just know that you are only 2 weeks before you see the light at the end of a tunnel and it is "around the corner" :D !!!
Also, never think that this is all that could be done for you - so many other techniques
exist to solve this menace , but I am sure that you will not need them !!! Your sphincter is loose now Image and you just need time. Maybe you had a lot of scar tissue and your CRS had to cut a lot. That area is so slow to heal - tiny "paper cut" called fissure can not close fast - now imagine 3 mm width of anodherm chopped off !
I thought that my "black hole" had no chance on Earth of closing , and guess what ??? So, never ever loose hope - all is possible - our body is programed to heal itself and you will heal - absolutely ! Just continue with baths, and keep your poop very soft and
try to control your pain with some medications - even taking just the edge of the pain helps a lot with enduring it and dealing with it ! It will help you move around and maybe go out of the house a little - I really hate the fact that you have nobody that can be with you at least an hour a day and cheer you up Image - why are people so selfish and non giving in this world is beyond my understanding :( .
Hang in there buddy - just 2 more weeks - you will see !!!

lars - unfortunately i am still having pain (i'm not sure if that'll reassure you or not...). it's changed throughout the past 6 weeks, and i've had my ups and downs, but it's still that familiar "raw" pain in the a**. i'm so discouraged now, i definitely know where you're coming from. it's very hard for me to stay positive, but i'm trying. That's all we can do in these situations i guess.
You're only 2 weeks out so please don't despair. That's short amount of time for such a serious surgery. 2 weeks after my surgery i still had a gaping wound which has long since closed up, so i know some progress has been made. Try to take it week by week instead of day by day like val says. That's helped me a bit. I'm still taking 2-3 baths a day, that brings me so much comfort I hope you can find some way to take a few hot soaks everyday. i'm also trying to walk a lot to get the blood flowing. it's hard though, the past few days i've just laid in bed and cried for hours. It's so true what everyone says about hopelessness and depression intensifying pain. Days when I feel happy and full of hope, I also feel like i'm healing and then days like today when i feel discouraged and depressed, i feel more pain than ever. Ironic?! LOL
Anyway, try to do what you can to take your mind off it. I take a lot of ibuprofen, read a lot, watch a lot of movies, and take my baths and walks. I'm sure week by week you'll notice improvement. My dr has never given me a set time when i "should be healed by", but I've read so many places that fissurectomy healing can take 12 weeks or more. That little piece of info gives me reason to hold onto hope when i feel so full of despair. Remember, 2 weeks is only a tiny fraction of that amount of time, so try not to worry right now.

Juney , I am sorry to hear that you are also in much pain still Image . Hang in - you also had a small fistulotomy done , so yes, you definitely need much longer period of time to heal.
I hope that 2 of you read BG's post - she had LIS and needed 6 MONTHS to get rid of all pain - so please two of you don't loose hope - you both are still so fresh out of the surgery !!!
Wishing you both fast and complete healing very, VERY soon !!!! Image

Juney & Lars
I am sorry for both of you :) , but remember how low Jen was after LIS. Since you both have had serious surgery - it will take some time. Lars listen to Juney and Fissy, they know what they talk about.

Hey, I can translate for you if you want me too...but then our secrets would be out in the open :D I was only giving him some advice, and writing in English suddenly was too much. Every now and then I have problems with finding the correct words and it stops me from saying what I want, and since I'm not a very patient person I Image that!
Lykke til = good luck
Rumpe = ass
I read somewhere that Lars has problems taking baths to soothe his butt - why???
One can take a sitz bath everywhere. You just need a (plastic salad) bowl, water, a shower and squatting position.
Me and my life saver, the salad bowl, went to Italy this summer with open fissure, and I took sitz baths in three different hotels rooms, and in two different apartments that we rented.
Sitz baths and showering/rinsing off after BM is a necessity. I am so used to showering/rinsing after BM that I cannot imagine only using toilet paper after BM...like it's unhygienic or something :D
You want me to write in French next time?
Si vous voulez, je peux le faire....
Au revoir mes amis Image Corsica
