I've had two flex sigs and had to take a fleet enema for one and a laxative prior to the other one. The sigs weren't that painful, but I did not have a fissure when I had them.

I don't know much about these procedures but a flex sig is supposed to be a lot easier than a colonscopy as they don't go up as far. I don't think it will makes things worse overall. If you can handle the digital, I bet you can handle this. Have you ever had anoscopy before? Where they put that instrument in your bum to look around? If so, I bet this won't be any bigger at all.

It might give them some information to work from and they may want to rule everything out before deciding if you need the surgery.

Image Darren i think you should create hairy hell on Monday insist they take you under and do this type of investigation tell them you cannot wait as you are worried and in pain – You are right Dazzy this type of investigation while things are so sore would be torture Image
There is also the option of going private like our Val has suggested – PM me if you need more details of private hospitals in our area..
Did you have some soup ????????????

Yeah, I am sure you are right, Tabby. Maybe a private consult is the way to go. If they are wanting to put you through this they may not know what is best for you. I am sorry. You poor thing-this must be bloody hell. Image

Dazzy,
you DONT have to have that procedure awake! Just insist they put you under. Go to your GP and TELL him, dont ask, be very persistent !! I have had my fair share of dozy doctors and most of them are complete assholes when dealing with this. I went to a Nuffield hospital for my CRS and he was absolutely brilliant.
This is your body, your life and your decision - dont let them hurt you unecessarily. There is no way I could have been awake during a sig when my fissure was at its worst.
Good luck!
p.s. your gp can refer you, and you will get an appointment privately in approx 2 weeks, most often sooner.
