Hi All, thanks for your support.

Hi Sugar, your post made me cry...... How nice, and I'm so glad you are now pain free.
Did you find that you had a day of reduced pain but then another of more pain? That's what I'm getting at the moment...

Msimon, I'm not getting the leakage now. It was within the first 3-4 days I found it worse... I think this is normal. Hard to tell what is gas and what is BM sometimes, but that has eased up again over the last few days. Are you having LIS?

JBL, was your cut too conservative? I know I read you were having issues again? I'm sorry you need a second LIS but I'm sure you have the right surgeon who can do it with no problems...

1 week post surgery.

No pain in BM, had horrible throb again, which has caused discomfort. It's almost as if my muscle contracts and then throbs after BM. This hasn't happened every time, just twice. Now I've worked myself up into a frenzy that I'm having spasms again.... Not too sure, but when it happens I get discomfort all day. Speaking to my GP later.

I don't want this LIS to fail.

Rachael, throbbing needn't lead to spasms. I've had some throbbing on and off, when I over-do things, and none have led to spasms. I don't think I've had spasms for a year now, nor the broken glass feeling. I'm sure throbbing is really normal after a cut like the one you've had.

Also, the reduced pain/more pain thing - again, I think that's incredibly normal. I've not had LIS, but that was true of my healing. It's going to depend so much on your stools, their hardness, their acidity, their frequency. Also whether you are resting enough.

Give yourself time and try not to worry. I don't know about you, but anxiety makes me clench my bottom - NOT a good idea! Baby yourself, and stay positive. It really does help.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Bless you, I hope it made you feel a bit better :-)

I had what I would describe as soreness around the incision site for two weeks. Throbbing sounds more infection like than anything fissure related. I am not saying you have an infection so don't worry, and even if your GP says you do have one, a strong round of antibiotics would sort that out. Infection throbbing is much better than fissure pain :-) I had an infection after my second round of botox, but they gave me a really strong dose of antibiotics and that sorted it out :-)

It may not be an infection, it may just be your incision site feeling sore and throbbing, def good idea to get a GP to check it though :-)

Good luck lovely xxx

Yes I remember having extra pain for about 2 weeks after my LIS. But for me the fissure pain never went away. My incision healed well but the fissures never did. So I think you are doing really good with pain free BM's. You are probably feeling some incisional pain that will get less and less.

Thanks all.

Well after yesterday nervous breakdown, I'm having a better day.... I spoke to my GP lastnight and she asked me to pop there just so she could have a look. I didn't want her to mess too much, but I wanted her to check things looked okay. They did.... No infection, very bruised and sore, she wasn't rough and just gently looked thank goodness. She gave me 500mg painkiller and told me to try that for the pain.

Day 8

No pain on BM, showered instead of bathing and dried off. The incision is super super sore, and letting out gas hurts! Ouch!
This is definitely rougher than I imagined. I'm trying to stay positive about this, I need this to get my life back.
