Day 9/10

Same 2BM issues, so extra soreness at incision site.... Something's gone wrong with my BMs they are too soft, like soft serve ice cream. I'm sure this is too soft, so I need to cut back again on Movicol and as I'm having Fibre so I'm overdoing it. I didn't have any issues before LIS and I ironically was almost pain free before surgery.... If this incision pain doesn't ease up by the 2 week mark I'll contact the CRS. Feeling a bit low at the moment and I'm getting to the point I just want to lay in bed all day and cry!

I think the while thing has exhausted me and I'm still in pain which isn't helping at all.... Just how I feel today, maybe tomorrow will be better.

I am sorry Rachael. I feel the same. I get my BMs put of the way, walk my dog slowly then go back to bed and read. I don't even want to wash my hair, or do anything at all. Are you off work? We are doing all the right things. It still is early days, all the bruising and soreness has to come out before it starts to heal. We are giving it every chance to heal. Each day it will get a little better, I am sure if it.

Rachael - I am sorry that both you and Caroline are going through this right now. I hope it helps that there is someone else going through it at the same time and you can help one another out. Just have to get those incisions healed. Two BM's in one day is really hard to go through. When that happens to me it is some of my hardest days. I thought it was a good thing to have BM's that are soft consistency like toothpaste or soft serve? I have to keep my stools so soft. It is getting increasingly harder to push it out no matter how soft. I am sure due to the stenosis. I know how it feels to just want to cry over the whole situation and I do sometimes shed tears but try not to because it just makes my eyes swollen and I look horrible and that makes me feel worse. I am sure you will get those BM's where you need them soon and you will feel better! :)

Thankyou all, I wouldn't survive without this forum......

I'm still off work and don't plan on returning until I'm on top of this.... I just can't face anything physically or mentally at the moment.

Day 11

Comfortable BM, reduced the Movicol to 1.5 sachet instead of 2. Still soft, but just a bit more formed. Showered afterwards(baths make the area sorer). The CRS did say to only do the baths for a few days after surgery. The incision is sore still, but not quite as bad.... I had a better afternoon yesterday too, but nearing on evening time, I'm super sore at the incision site. I can sit on my hand and take the pressure off the incision for a few minutes.... So I'm sticking to sitting on my side and lying on my side and front.(oh I look forwards to the days when I can sit and lie on my back!) I'm sure I'm making a bit of progress.......

Sounds good Rachael. Try sitting on a hot water bottle. I do that at work.

Rachel, have you had any spasms since surgery? I wonder if your incision is taking longer to heal than mine did because it was less conservative. That would be a good thing for you since mine was probably too conservative. It sounds like you are improving and headed in the right direction.

Hi all, Thankyou. Xxxx

JBL, before LIS I could feel my bum tighten after each BM, then the spasm would start..... Now, I think it's looser and it feels more numb after BM, weird.... I'm sure I had spasms for the first few days, as I could feel the muscle contract where the incision is. The CRS said he didn't do a full LIS but he'd cut enough to do the job. Let's just hope it's enough.....

Day 12

No pain on first BM, incision sore. Second BM. Stinger at incision site. Cleaned up both times and now incision is uncomfortable. I'm worried this incision is going to take a while to heal. Everything feels weird and numb, I'll be at 2 week mark on Weds.....

Hi Caroline...
I'm okay today... Less pain, so I'm coping. Yesterday was awful and I had bad pain, so was in bed early, grumpy and upset.
I'm reducing the fibre as I think I'm having too much!

Day 15
No pain on BM and BM comes out easier.... Second BM I squatted and breathed easy. Less pain today, the incision is sore and it's clearly stingy and let's me know it's there if I move too quickly. Clean up takes a few wipes and I'm drying with the hair drier after shower.
