Knowing is half the battle...good idea to get an MRI and really see what the fistula looks like...then they can give you a sense of what will need to be done.

Wishing you the best -- keep us posted on the MRI.

Katie, There are not always people on here who have had a fistula, so sorry nobody has replied to your particular question.

I believe you are seeing your doctor on the 6th, if I remember rightly, so you should get an answer then. I do know that they do an MRI to see where the fistula is located, its tract if I remember. It is a very good idea and a thorough surgeon would recommend this as a better view of the fistula's direction is found in this way. Fistulas usually follow on from an infection. I did mention on one of your posts as to whether you were taking antibiotics for this, but you did did not reply to the question.

I wish you all the very best with your doctor's appointment. Make sure that he/she answers all your questions; always a good thing to write them down or to have someone go with you.

:huggies:

P.S. We are all volunteers on here!

So update I went to see the surgeon yesterday and she told me my tear could never heal because I had a skin tag up inside that was stopping it for all them years! The surgeon comformed I do now have a fistula and that will need to be sorted so another op! So because it's in the same area as my tear was they going to have to take the top off the tear to clean out and sort the fistula so I know I'm going to be back in so much pain!! But saying that in pain every day now!!!!!!!! But it's good to have a plan MRI on 29th dec then results on the 10th Jan and my surgeon said she has spaces to do the op so she will pencil me in so think it will be in January! But she need to make sure it's like she thinks and wait for the MRI xx
