Sounds like really good news, Rachael. I'm happy for you..........long may your improvement continue!
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

I'll be 7 weeks post LIS next Wednesday. No pain on BM. I can manage after one BM. After two BM, the incision really hurts, it's almost like it stings at intervals and it just feels sore. The muscle doesn't ache as much, but I feel like the incision isn't healing....... I don't really want to look and pull it apart as I might do damage.

I've had irritation back there, so on advice from my GP I'm using sudocrem applied very thinly on the sore areas...... It's helped. Not sure if cleaning and using the wet wipes is aggravating it somewhat. It's gine down the last few days, so I'm hoping it'll be okay now.....

My follow up is on the 27th Nov, so will see what the CRS says then!
Hem Banding sept 2012
2Fissures
Nitro- Effective short term
April 2013-Botox-Effective short term
Diltazem-No effect, developed Rash
July 2014-Diagnosed High Resting Pressure
LIS performed on 17.9.14
Ongoing pain/re-tears. Awaiting pressure test results.

I was told to avoid baby wipes or Tucks (which has witch hazel in it). My doc seemed to think both would irritate more than help. (I’m not sure what’s in wet wipes but it might cause more harm than good) If possible, it was better to use damp toilet paper and dab the area. Afterward, be sure to dab the area dry to avoid the growth of any more infection. If you can’t damp the toilet paper at work, fine. Just do what you can but definitely try to use some soft toilet paper.

Glad to hear you are still progressing Rachael. Sorry to hear that the incision site is still trouble though. :hugs: I wonder why some people really struggle with it and others are healed within days. I wondering if it really has to do with the skill of the surgeon...

The unpredictability of what may happen has me scared to do anything. Although I am really struggling as it is. Arg.

Do you still feel your fissures or do you think they are healed?
Dec '13 Fissure from anoscope
3 X internal sphincter botox
'08-'15 Botox for pelvic floor dysfunction
Nov '14 LIS/sentinel tag removal

Hi J x
Thanks everyone.... Well today was interesting...
I'm still on this hell rollercoaster.

I continue to have muscle pain and burn. On and off, so many days a week.
The CRS examined me and said the incision and fissure had just healed. But he thinks because it was a partial LIS and the cut was small... The muscle is still too tight. More pressure tests in Jan with a potential second LIS...

Just trying to get my head around it... So it hadn't ended. I'm hoping it can settle. He said the cut was he size of a pin prick, so maybe he knows it wasn't enough....

Sigh

Oh Rachel I'm so sorry! I am in the same boat, except perhaps my third lis. Why why why are crs so conservative? Is it because we are young women? My rear seems almost as tight as ever. Thinking about a second opinion from a different crs. Honestly my second lis was so much easier than my first! Are you getting a manometery or just anal ultrasound? I just had anal ultrasound before my second lis- the tech said I had so much musvle left that they couldn't even tell i had a lis done at all! Then I had a second bh the same crs. Maybe that was a mistake. I really trusted her though- said she thought she cut enough this time that I would heal but not be incontinent. And I did! For 5 weeks- until I retore. Are you here in U.S. or uk? Will you use same crs? I pray next thanksgiving we both have nice loose healed butts!

R & hb,

So sorry to hear that you ladies r still suffering... Have you ladies looked into any information regarding (anal) muscle tension? I've been reading the book a headache in the pelvis (wise & Anderson) and it has given me more insight on my Condition; my pt suggested that I try anal dilation to relieve the muscle tension / tightness but wanted to get my pressure tests done before I begin... I had my pressure tests canceled, it was rescheduled for this week; I have see. Several crs' and some have stated that I had a normal sphincter.. It was not until I got Botox injected to the pelvic floor muscles that it was more obvious that my internal sphincter was tight (2 doctors, 1 nurse, 1 pt confirmed it); I had to really push for a pressure test to be done.. My pelvic pain specialist basically said that she did not need a test to determine it, she was digitally able to tell. I don't have any fissures; when I touch my internal sphincter, it feels sore and tender to the touch. Massaging that area causing pain and discomfort.
2/14 Fissure developed
3/14 Diagnosed w/ fissure given Nifedipine
4/14 Referred to Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy=Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
5/14 Fissure declared "healed"/chronic anal pain persists
9/5/14 Botox to pelvic floor
9/22 biofeedback
